I was caught over the weekend in my Westfield FW400 - I have some questions that hopefully some people can answer.

I joined the M27 at Jct5, and in a moment of madness, gave it a 20 second blast. I was quickly reduced to 70-80 mph as cars were in the outside lane.

The police say they measured me over 0.4 of a mile (2 bridges), and that my average speed was 103mph - I'm surprised as that would mean I was doing alot more than that at the first bridge.

They policeman says he was 3 cars behind me when I went under the 1st bridge (and he pressed the button). How can he accuratly estimate when I went under the bridge?

Does anyone know any info about radio and phone interference for this timing equipment? Some police friends tell me this is a concern/grey area at the moment. All mobiles should me off and radio's set to inhibet.

Anyone know where I can get good legal assistance in the Southampton/Winchester area?

I have an sp30 on my license from 18 months ago - up until then I was clean for 10 years. Any guess on what I'll get?

That's it for the moment.

Hello Chaps,

Thanks for all your replies.

Mungo, have you got any advice on the Police car being "2 or 3 cars back" when I went under the 1st bridge?

What does CoFP stand for?

I'm also being reported for a defective tyre (I'm so ashamed - I'm not normally like this) The cars only done 100 miles since the MOT, and I was taking it for a service where it would have been picked up. However, the part of the tyre he measured was 1mm but it is a "flat spot" in the middle of the tyre. He only measured this one spot, not the rest of the circumference. The chap at the garage mentioned that if it was a flat spot, it came under the 2/3 rule?

Kik1. I do have photos of a trackday I did at Goodwood, which I'll post later. Meanwhile check out these 2 web sites. This is the actual car I bought, the first one made. It is one of the few cars with a carbon body, and the only one with carbon dash, indicators, head lights etc etc. It only had 1200 miles on the clock when I bought it, and I've only done 7-800. It might be for sale soon.......

Hello IOLAIRE,

Thanks for all this. How do you get time for your work? Spent hours going through all this last night.

The main differences between myseld and shoodie is:

1) Shoodie had a single policeman - there were 4 police in the police car that followed me. Does this make a difference? Would they have to all be trained operators to say the reading was accurate? I know one of them was a probationer.

Also, was shoodie's case from a stationary VASCAR?

2) As I was taking my car for a service, I was being followed down by a friend - he happens to be a policeman. He like me is very surprised at averaging 103mph. He saw the police car but couldn't see me which would suggest that he couldn't be that accurate on the buttons?

I asked at the time to see the video and was told there wasn't any, or even one on board the car. I was asking all these questions because I was suprised that I had averaged 103

Mungo, you said the driver operates the VASCAR. They've got to press 4 buttons in the right order, accuratley at an alledged 103mph in a short period of time (13.9 secs)....... anyway my point is the chap in the front passanger seat wrote the ticket, not the driver. He took me through the procedure of what HE had done.... at least that's the impression he gave.

If the driver operated the VASCAR, then shouldn't he issue the ticket? Not clutching at straws or anything....

The probationer in this car was an attractive blonde who wouldn't stop giggling - Nice to be able to entertain the BiB.....

IOLAIRE, I will give you more details off line.....

Thanks IOLAIRE, I won't discuss any of the details on this forum. I spoke to a solicitor yesterday, and he said the officer had no right to even ask the question (which surprised me cos I thought it reasonable), never mind the rest (which I agree was right out of order).

He's advised that I have to wait until the papers come through, and then contact him. We can't really do anything until then - he suggested that in this area it's 3-4 months, so I'm putting it to the back of my mind and just getting on with my life until "that letter" arrives. I will of course update the forum in 3 - 4 months.

Why didn't I ask why Blondie was laughing? Because I didn't want to wind him/them up! If I was dealing with someone in a very distressing situation, I would consider it a completly sh1t thing to been seen laughing. But then I'm not traffic BIB so perhaps I don't understand. Sorry for that!
