my mate just had his £25,000 car crushed by the Police or DVLA, he got it just before xmas and has it all legal Taxed insured etc, he went away to Thailand over the xmas period and came back to no car, they came and took it away for no Tax, it turns out the Tax disc has been stolen by scrotes and as he was abroad had no idea of this, he didn't know the authorities had crushed his car and just thought it had been stolen from the road outside his house, he rang the Police to report it stolen as soon as he got home and this is when he found out it had been crushed, it turns out the DVLA records had not yet updated the fact it was Taxed as it takes a while to get this fact on their system so according to their records it was not Taxed even though it was, this is crazy as its on the drip , can he get the cost back from someone for this mistake? as he is currently paying for a car he does not have anymore and he needs a car to get to his work too

my mate rang me last night to say his car has not after all been crushed and its safely in a compound waiting for him, he thought it had been crushed as that was what he had been told by someone when he rang the police to report it stolen, aparrently they are holding an investigation to find out who said it had been crushed, the police reassured my mate they dont just go round crushing cars without making absolutely sure its justified first by giving many chances for the owner to get it back its nice to hear, I would have reacted in the same way as my mate though and blame the press for making us all paranoid with all those horror stories you read every day
Talk about scaring the life out of him though!
