Passed by here for the first time this evening and noticed a new camera covering both southbound lanes half a mile south of the A24/A272 junction in the 60 section. ( Not the one near the Garden centre further down) Couldn't get a picture and didn't recognise what type it was, any one know ?

I noticed it today and it looked as if it was pointing sideways (90 degrees) to the road which is a bit odd! - that would explain the marks on the road before and after it which is also odd as it's a dual carriageway.
yes, i thought this too, definately lines before and after the camera, and the window in the box points 90 degrees across the road not down it. Can't find anything similar on the camera websites, but definately a speed camera as it's now on the sussex police website

Only they too can see you both before and after you've passed them.
the lens on these seems to face in direction of travel, yet the one on the A24 faces across the carriageway.

A quick update on this for those that are interested

It looks like Sussex are going to be setting up arund 100 further camera sites, likely to be digital so time to turn the bike in to a track bike as riding on the roads will be just to risky to collect points
I would have thought to save lives spending £2m building things like roundabouts at poor junctions would have been far better, or even real police on the roads to stop poor driving under the limit., but who am I to say........

Indeed!, The new poster is referring to the new cameras on the A24 southbound Southwater Bypass ( about 1 mile north of those at the beginning of thread), These are a new technology now on test, average speed type. If the first sign were removed I doubt you would notice the first camera behind the bridge.
