C6 Makes Top Gear Top 10!
Discussion
Got this from Cadillac Europe
As one of the first European TV media, Top Gear has driven the Corvette C6.
Yesterday the C6 was in the studio for recording the show and "The Stig" drove a fast lap.
The Corvette set a good lap time, even beating the Lotus Exige, which had been specially set-up for the track.
1. Mercedes McLaren SLR - 1.20.9
2. Ford GT - 1.21.9
3. Ferrari 360 CS - 1.22.3
3. Porsche GT3 RS - 1.22.3
5. Murcielago - 1.23.7
6. Zonda - 1.23.8
7. Koenigsegg - 1.23.9
8. Noble - 1.25.0
9. Gallardo - 1.25.8
10. Corvette C6 - 1.26
11. Lotus Exige - 1.26.4
12. Porsche 911 GT3 - 1.27.2
Richard Hammond the presenter was generally very positive about the car. He liked the performance and styling enormously. The engine and handling got a lot of praise and the head-up-display is now one his favourite features. Of course they also had some criticism, like the interior build quality.

That's a good lap time considering its place within all the other cars. No doubt the C6 Z06 will be right next to the 911GT3 and GT3RS. And I thought the C6 was a direct competitor to the GT2, which would logically be slower than a GT3...
I'm interested in the interior criticism, however.

Not only then did the 'vette make 10th spot, but:
1. Mercedes McLaren SLR - 1.20.9
2. Ford GT - 1.21.9

10. Corvette C6 - 1.26
11. Lotus Exige - 1.26.4
12. Porsche 911 GT3 - 1.27.2
..er wouldn't all the other cars above it be way more money than it too???
And we should remember - this is the BASE model! Roll-on the new Z06!!

Not until it stops being beaten by the wide-eyed frog ugly stick. Besides, they say the C6 is, at best, only "as fast" as the Z06 so why buy one? Buy a Z06.
I certainly feel a whole lot better about having a Z06 now the American tests have been exonerated as being unbiased - this car really does compete with the best.
Perhaps if they kiss the C6, it will turn into a princess - not a Leyland Princess obviously....
I'm saving for the restyled Z07.

Wonder if it was driven by the same TG researcher that drove mine ? The one that tried to drive off in 5th gear because he thought American manual gearboxes "worked the other way round" and therefore 1st must be over there !
Presumably they hired him to make the presenters look smart !

Aha - so that's the reason they can never give our cars a good review, eh? They think the gearboxes are the wrong way round...
Mind you (I won't try though!) we could probably with a bit of clutch slip take off in 5th gear!!

How do these people have the right to a place on earth, let alone a job driving cars that they clearly klnow nothing about...!
From the Topgear site-
This week though, we took a look at an American classic, the Corvette, which has been around for 51 years. The good news is that it's designed as a sports car so they haven't just stuck a truck engine in it. And to our shock and surprise, the Americans have managed to make another car that goes around corners. The suspension really is too hard, but it's preferable to the usual bouncy castle system that Americans seem to enjoy, and it has another of those interiors that looks like it's been fashioned out of old ashtrays.

There was another car above the C6 that isn't in your list above.
Mit Evo FQ

The list on the top gear web site is the same as above with the evo coming about 5 placed behind. I guess in their shock at the performance they couldn’t actually put it in the right place on the board.
