So what happened at TOTB3 then ?
Discussion
I was there (but not running) and had a blinding weekend.
What follows is the brutal truth:
Jeal's purple monster - well done to Dan who was going all day. People in the crowd saw and appreciated his runs and he was lying third in class on the handling course behind a Caterham type thing and a Viper. Not sure where he ended up.
Nige's yellow monster - horrendous fuel problems due to lack of time to sort it out = no runs apart from one on the handling course, I think. Nige should be allowed to tell the whole story if he wants.
Jason's 368 - on its third clutch which was slipping. Didn't run.
Richard Ross seemed to be having a good time (despite his initial apprehension) and put in two consistent top speed runs at 166 mph which I witnessed from the timing lights at the end - damned impressive. He dis several runs and just get going back for more and has inspired me to run again next year (but properly this time)
Cliffy's car - came back on Geoff's trailer. No doubt Geoff can update us as Cliffy is not on line very often.
The Vipers were a mixed bag and no doubt Malc will be pleased to know that Paul managed a "magnificent" 144mph in V10 BOY and was heard to complain about handling problems. Two of the Vipers were running well all day but Nadine had a sheared power steering pulley in the morning and didn't arrive at Elvington until late.
I stayed right to the end this year but didn't see the final results.

Rocket Ronnie won overall again taking the trophy once, for the 3 events. Mark in his NOS Viper, managed to get it working correctly right at the end of the day and got 2 runs (his first ever with NOS)
Nad, only had one run all day, flying, after a lot of effort to have a re-conditioned power steering (borrowed off Mitch) pulley fail again, it took out the S/C and power steering, it apprantly felt like slamming the rear brakes on, she dipped the clutch and coasted over the line to 173mph. But still won a trophy but we trailored backed to Brum, got back at 3am.... after waiting 4 hours for the AA to arrive with a flat bed. All fixed this morning with new parts, and back to normal

Hi Brett,
List of mods is as follows:-
Headers, Corsa exhaust, relocated MAT sensor, modified air filter lid, Accel Blue air filter, throttle body coolant bypass, custom air duct support, line-lock kit and Hurst shifter. Usually I run Nitto drag radials on the rear. Car came with Movit front brakes when I bought it. I also have a Raptor Performance shift light which I have yet to install.
I can talk you through it all at the next Fairmile if you like.

I for one had a great time !! Many thanks for those that helped look after Daniel while I had a run etc.
One thing that you are not going to believe Richard is that the Clutch slipped all the way to Elvington with over 1400 miles on it, It then slipped all the way through the two runs i did, It also slipped for around 20 miles on leaving Elvington.... But then all was fine !! ??
Ok so I did get the odd fraction of a slip but really all now looks OK ?
I will run it for about 2 weeks before dropping it back to Geoff for the next installment etc. I will know by then if all is permanently well.
I guess the car was just scared of all the big players at Elvington ...
Oh by the way - even without calibration etc, when it goes - it really goes !!! Now all you need to do is teach me how to drive it - I too left the power key off on one run ... Still managed to beat the other car though !

TOTB3 was excellent. Got there at 8.30am and missed all the traffic and saw the opening 1/4 mile by Rocket Ronnies Skyline R34 (10.87s and 187.4mph top speed). Then went to the timing gate at the far end and took some video of the top speed runs. If anyone is interested I have short, low(ish) quality Avi video clips of the top speed and 1/4 mile runs including a lot of the cars (vettes, vipers, porkers and japs) including the 1000bhp supra hitting 201.4mph then locking up for 200 yards, a 177mph Scooby and i think its Nadines viper doing 172mph. 1/4 mile files are quite large so have some space in your inbox if needed (I can mail up to 10mb)
I'm new to this site so I dont know you all but I will happily email any clips so drop me an email, Stuzzer@ntlworld.com
Worst moments of the day........... Not seeing Nigels Z06 spank some japmobiles and black viper GTS beaten by a grandad looking M reg rover 420 on the 1/4 mile (I have the evidence on camera too!)
Cant wait til next year!!!!!!!!!! More yanks please!!!

Missed yesterday completly, back in Austria for a week or so.
Dan finished 3rd in class B on the handling course, beat a load of Jap stuff in the process. I ran a 12.9 @ 107, Dan did a 12.71 @ 110, he also did 171.8 Mph. That was a supprise because of the 4.10:1 rear axle.
Cliff ran 12.9 @ 106 and 172.4 with LOTS of wheelspin (need to get some proper tyres mate), the engine sprouted an oil leak from the cam cover and a coolant leak from somewhere so we decided to put it on the trailer and drive the Purp home.
Jason ran a 13.13(I think) with a slipping clutch which also served to stop the clutch slipping (strange) he also did a 14.00 something at 90 mph cos he forgot to turn on the power key (sorry Jason, just thought that was funny)!
Very dissapointed we didn't get Nigels running properly, tried very hard but ran out of time.
All in it was a bloody good day out!

It was a shit day out.....as my lovely new fuel system that I paid lots of money for didn't work. The new fuel system is worse than the old one at the moment so to say I am not happy is the understatement of the century.
The whole reason for building my car was for TOTB III and I feel extremely pissed off that the car which wasn't perfect before came back worse 2 weeks later and lots of money spent.
I want my car fixed.....NO EXCUSES!!!

In my defense my Viper is stockexcept for the 'catback exhaust.
It was my first time at the event and my only run up the 1.25 mile course and like C5ragtop I was unsure of the finish and let off well before the finish line.
Ran 12.9 in the quarter and 44 secs on the handling.
Not a bad event but it became a real pain trying to get your car out of its pit and onto the line wish they could close the pit at some point farther up the pit lane.
Also the idea of 'Road Legal' a large percentage of the cars had stripped out interiors and one headlamp missing.

Hi Tris,
Yes, had to ditch the drag radials for Elvington cos they're only V-rated. Thanks to Joe Dispinseri for the loan of his wheels, which I have no doubt added 10 MPH to my top speed.
I've done the sums and next year I will be running with 4.10 gears which are better suited to the 1.25 mile sprint. Should also knock 2 tenths off the 1/4 mile time too.
Nice to see all the vettes there. Sorry for those who weren't on form this year, don't worry, we'll come back fighting next year.
