Jason - Excuse me, as I am no expert on racing engines, but I run the same Aeromotive regulator on my Cosworth 2.3 Duratec with "dead head" fuel supply (no return), and I had to turn the adjuster screw on top WAY down almost flush with the jam nut to get the required 4.3 bar fuel pressure. I noticed in the photo above that the adjuster screw in yours is significantly farther out than mine. Like I said, I am no expert, but the difference in the screw position is noticeable. If your fuel pressure is slightly lower than optimal, maybe this could negatively affect peak power output? Just a thought.

The high spec t/bodies are only available from SBD as they were designed by SBD
They are not the usual Jenvey t/bodies
Have you got any pictures, the (very old) ones I've seen are very Jenvey like. I'd like to see how they've changed

Good work Jason, just some minor issues to deal with, I'd call that a result!

Thanks for the support guys but it failedfrown

The fog light gets it's live from the side light lights and this is no good. I must only be able to turn the fog on when the dipped or main beam is on. I'll have to think about how this can be done.

There was also a few more nut caps needed and a bit of sharp edge protection here and there but nothing I could not have sorted while there.

I just scraped through with emissions and the noise test was 97db at 4500 rpm.

I have managed to get an afternoon retest on next Monday.

I will get there!!!

Jason
I guess thats a good fail so well done.

what indicators/headlights have you got fitted to your car? Any pics? I heard that having indicators below the headlights might fail now as they're too far from the edge of the car.

Heh, you got proper "man's fails" biggrin
Not stupid ones like "ooh, the fog light switch doesn't light up bright enough to tell you the fog light's on in bright sunlight" or "ooh, the cycle wings are attached 3mm too far back" mad
Nearly there now. Look forward to seeing/hearing it.

Oh! I knew about the top balljoint! Read about it somewhere. getmecoat
I can't get my head around the whole IVA thing. What's the point of all this finicky stuff if it doesn't matter for the MOT.
Whats the point if you can take it all off after the test, and it's never required again? confused

I can see in the future the fluoro jacket and safety glasses/hard hat brigade will make it too difficult to register a home built car, and it will be a thing of the past.

I wonder if this is why Caterham are testing the water with the track day toy market.

Should have set the stack to read off 3 engine cylinders rather than 4..
That way maximum engine speed is reduced to help with emissions and noise

Hi Jason, another question...
Any particular reason you didn't fit the CSR wings for the IVA?

Thanks for your reply Jason.smile

Personaly I really like the CSR side repeaters. I believe they're upside down Focus ones.
To me, they look like they where designed to be there.
I have some clear ones with orange bulbs. look realy nice with the alloy.
Although I don't know if clear lenses are allowed for IVA. Anyone know?
New production cars have them don't they? confused

I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be allowed.

I know for a MOT it has to be a clear orange light so the orange bulb will let it sail though

The tunnel cover is actually leather with carbon effect. It's a little duller than the boot cover but some leather treatment will sort that 100%.

I have some doors coming in a carbon material at the weekend so I'll post some pics up when they are on.

cheers
Jason
Jason, did the doors arrive? I would be interested to see some pictures.

Cheers

Can I ask too, what is the advantage of the imperial chassis over the metric one? Specifically with the duratec engine.

I may have a vested interest in the answer.
