Looks a good un, Why didn't I get this in my search ?
No idea. I just got the link from Blatchat http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=239056I'm in the same boat .... Colchester is really a bit too far. ... If the car was located in surrey I'd buy it.
Funny still can't find the ad but the link from blatchat to the ad works.
There's a new HPC spec 7 in surrey for sale..... At what seems good money, but I don't like yellow and I don't like the bare metal look. :-(

What did you think of the deal on the new superlights and cr500 tyres for £500? Is it and upgrade worthy of consideration for my first 7?
That sounds like a good deal to me. You'd be paying over £800 for those separately. Assuming of course that he means the 13" superlight wheels and not the 15"! Get a nice set of 13"x6" wheels all round on CR500 and you'll be laughing. Great tyre in the wet and dry!framerateuk said:

Would be a good deal if I got to keep the original mint minilights... but that wasn't part of the dealGrubbster said:
Difference between 5 and 6 speed (assuming the correct diffs are fitted) would be about 500 rpm at 80 mph, if you swap a 5 speed box for a 6 speed without altering the diff then the difference would be about 800 rpm at 80 mph. On a lower powered 7 the 6 speed does help keep the engine in the sweet spot, the longer first gear is also much more useable. My 5 speed has a very long first, long second, longish third, standard fourth and slightly shorter fifth - but I do have 230bhp going through it so there isn't a need for close ratios!

When I go for a test drive of the 6-speed I want to be sure that the correct diff has indeed been fitted. How can I be sure? The speedo of the 5-speed SS 135 from S&C wasn't working when I drove it so couldn't make a note of speed/RPM.[/footnote]
Can anyone confirm what RPMs I should see at what speeds in the 140 6-speed?

It depends on the tyres fitted but you could try downloading this handy calculator tool http://locost7.info/gearcalc.php if you are using a windows machine. Can anyone confirm what RPMs I should see at what speeds in the 140 6-speed?

Thanks for the info Grubbster. No longer required now however as I'm picking up my 7 on Saturday...and it's a 5-speeder! Gassing Station | Caterham | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
