Mal,
When I mentioned shadows I was using the standard PH comment on suspect photos. See the difference a bit of perspective makes comparing this number plate:-

with this

It's still not quite right, but you might have got away with it.biggrin

Contrast looks crisper in your shot, IMO UR italics look wierd thoughbiggrin
Wow talk about big brother, never thought PH would have a problem with Cliff's boys. And BTW it's the first time I've heard that phrase mentioned on PH [I'm only a PH novice] - Not really into Altered Images, though I heard they wern't really a bad band.
When I posted up a few wildlife shots in the PH photo section they were all slagged off for not having the right colour balence etc by the Amateur Pedantics who frequent that section - Man life's too short to worry about such trivialities. I take pics that I likethumbup fk everyone else's ideas of what my pics should look like, hope this clarifies the situation. If you can't have a laugh and a joke with similar minded adult personages what's the world coming toirked
Now If you done something similar on BC - well of course you'd expect to get banned for life, just like me biggrinwaveythumbup
Take care someones watching yousmile

Cliff's boys - The Drifters? Sorry you've lost me there. biggrin

I don't have clever stuff like Photoshop, so I just copied your photo into MS Paint and skewed your number by 20%.

But like I said, very nice photos all the same.

Alan.

Cliff & the shadows - moderately successful 1960's band. Guess you're too young to remember themsmile
Skew = italic
Amateur Pedantic = Real saddo -self explanatory;)
Drifters's = vagabond / yet another band from 60'sbiggrin
>
Good to have some banter with you, type of person I'd happilly buy abeer if you ever spy me at any car events make yourself known, I'd be the sandal wearing hippy with the Red aeroscreened S4 taking all the st from the 100's of UPPER lower class S3 ownersbiglaughsmokin

Hi Mal,
Obviously a fraction older than you; Cliff's backing band was originally called the Drifters. They changed their name to Shadows when they found out about the American group.
Mine is a 1600 Supersport:-

I'll certainly take you up on a drink.

1600 Supersort - well I wouldn't have guessed you had one of themcool better I don't tell you what I thought you drovesmile
SWMBO has a Sigma academy car, - very nice to drive, but needs more grunt like your supersportIMO, they've improved the handling marginally over the S4 but I guess that's 40 years development 4U
Nice to know some S3 drivers acknowledge S4's Not too many of your kind on this thread

Hi Mal,
I think it was only one or two singles as the Drifters before they had to change the name. I was VERY young at the time.

But time to own up. What wheels did you have me down for?

I'm in East Sussex so a bit far to join the Taffia, but you'll find me at Dunsfold, collecting the car-park money on the London to Brighton and on Wightblat. I've also done Baywatch and the Graham Nearn Blat.

We're not snobby down here; we hang out with the Southern Kit Car Club and they have Tigers and Westies so an S4 would be just about acceptable.biggrin

Ask me what I imagined your wheels were after a few beers - I never lie, so it'll soften the blowsmile

Regarding my S4 being welcome in Southern KCC, my S4 has been welcomed in every Kit car, or Classic car club I've ever attended. The only negative/slagging off I've ever experienced towards it is from within the Lotus 7 club itself, including and especially on the L7 forum BlatChat where even the Management team condoned and even encouraged the slagging off posts towards itfurious When I retaliated towards the BC posters who slagged it off I had my posts edited/removed and finally after over 2200 posts on BC I've been banned from BC for saying my bit.
You work it out coz I can'tconfused
But enough about the negatives of BC and the L7club. Any petrolhead will appreciate an S4 for what it is. Compared to an S3 it's a mega rare car, one that NEVER gets mistaken for a Robin Hood, Westfield, locost, or any of the other S3 copies which proliferate. I've met many former S4 owners, seeing my car always brings a broad smile to their faces, and all comments towards it have been positive.
I'll never sell it - I love it's distinctive lookcoolthumbup

can someone tell me which engine mounts are used on the S4 - are they standard Escort ones? Elan?

spent the day cleaning up the engine and box and made a start on the wishbones. must get on with chassis repairs soon.

Standard rubber E type jag lower mounts bolt onto the chassis[2holes & still used today on caterhams], and bespoke S4 mounts bolt between 'e type mounts' and engine. Fraid you'll have to buy or make these yourself, depending on which engine you're fitting
Hope this helps

these ones?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

don't supose anyone has a photo of the mount from these to the engine? is it a simple tube and sheet steel afair? I'm sure I can make something easily enough.

supose I should get hold of the correct workshop manual sometimes, might make things a bit easier, LOL.

I take it there is a ring bound one, like the one my friend has for his Europa?

There's a photo of the engine mounts in the S4 parts manual, it's also in the Redline reprinted 'Pink' book under S4.
>>>>>
The parts linked to on ebay look like a good buy for an S4 owner whos cars had a smash, Not so good if you're thinking of using them as a basis to build an S4, there's loadsa [expensive] parts unique to the S4 missing, the wishbones shown are not original S4, but they may fit OK.
