Now I'm a confirmed S4 Aeroscreener, BUT was recently offered a new pair of 'Later type' lower S4 sidescreens {see Photo], these are as common as Rockin' horse poo [having been unobtainable 'New' for many years] so I had to acquire them - my 1970 original S4 'cloth' Sidesreeens though in great condition, were far too tight to use comfortably with my shoulder girth, but the later type have an extra 50mm or so of Shoulder/elbow room, which is really tempting me to try using the car once again with the sidescreens and full windsreen [and maybe even the Hood & Heater] in placetongue out
Winters arriving fast so it must be a Winter time jobsmile

What's everyone else got planned for their S4's this winter??
Any pictures of your progress would be nicesmile

Going soft not only happens to us older gits, but younger 7's too especially those with happy expections around Xmas timebiggrin
ps
Chain smokin's not good for your health either especially since S3's don't have an ashtray unlike the more civilised S4tongue out

Hello Mal, seeing your recent uploads, I could not resist to bring this one...
But anyway, - if you need a new coffee mug - have a look at Ebay for the new Matchbox Type 60 one. Cheers, Hajo

Mal, - I forgot: we were speaking about the door locks: A complete new set of them and new felt strips for the Aluminium frames I just bought for 21,50 - I think a real good price! Hajo

Am I right in thinking the steering rack mounts for an S4 are the same as Europa ones?
part gathering continues apace.
should be making a start on the jig for my front wishbones this week.

Hi we're new on here but thought you might like to see our latest project seeing as there's been no pictures added for a while!

It's got a vegantune 1600 crossflow on a new chassis and not far from completion so should but on the road in the Spring.

Enjoy

Hi - thanks for adding your project! It would be great to hear a little bit more about the earlier history of your 7S4 - hope you can finish it right in time for next season! Hajo

Hi just sorting out some photos and came across the photo of the S4 that I am rebulding its the very car that got me interedsted in the seven S4 in 1975 I bought one seven years ago and eventually came to get this one just over 6 months ago the only missing items are the engine & axle although in poor condition I rekon I can do it quite easily with a bit of effort remarkably both cars have the full weather gear after 40 years !

Thanks for looking Hajo, Mal - glad you like it. Here's a bit more history......

It's chassis number S4 2875 CL from 1970 and last on the road approx 1986. After a generous donation of the car in bits, but with a new chassis to fit, its taken 4 months so far. It was fitted with the vegantune crossflow engine in the early 80's for sprinting (approx 120 bhp) and is low mileage so we'll give it a go. The body was originally blue but needed a respray so went with lotus lime green from the 1970 era. The car and chief mechanic are in Stoke - on - Trent at present.

will keep you posted smile

Good to hear from you all the way from Belgiumwavey
Was your car originally the red 'WPH' registered road test car driven in the Autocar & Motor Road tests in 1970??
Did you buy it off 'Mike'??
What work needs doing to the car to make it roadworthy?

Nice to see your car has the original S4 steering wheel, something that's normally misssing from S4's, it's well worth gettting it sorted, is it Leather or Plastic rimmed??
I hope you have the centre horn push coz that's something which is impossible to source now, I had to make one for my carbiggrin
I notice your car is also missing the handbrake lever, do you have the oriignal Handbrake lever with the car?

Hi Ben

I'm relatively new to the world of S4's so wouldn't know much about your car - the others on here will point you in the right direction i'm sure. Nice to see another one being re-built though so will follow your progress with interest.
