125bhp @ 6100 rpm that it what I get out of the standard Lotus/Ford twinc in my old Elan and that is only 8 valves, carbs and dizzy. Surely engine design must have moved on more by now? Sure the old twinc would not pass any modern EU emissions standards and has been known to throw the odd flame or two out the back. Still I expected more power than that from a modern 1.6
i agree with you mate, i had a 1995 honda civic vti 1.6 that had 160bhp!! thats 12 years ago!!L100NYY said:

Don't get me wrong, and this is just my humble opinion, but I will always see Westfields, Dax etc as Caterham replicas in my eyes. The Caterham is the real deal, the genuine article and according to my own experience and every roadtest that I have read is the best 7 out there.

Oh and perhaps when you have owned any of the examples that we have mentioned you may well be in a better position to comment. Likewise I would not pass judgement on you buying a Suzuki over a Ducati for example.

Hi Pheads... just hired a 10K sigma Roadsport SV, see http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bolAZoMhS3M , CRACKING motor! Used to own a (non original) 7 twin cam 20 tears ago. Sigma felt much faster. loads more stiff, and loads more roomy! Did 200+ miles so got a good feel for it.
Brilliant engine noise and response... long live ford engines!!
