Been through the house thing, we managed to move in last November. I spent 8 years on a refurb, knocking two into one.
I can't take any credit for the brakes, that must go to BGD. smile

I managed to pick up some part worn tyres for a good price, just to get the car sat on its wheels, and for ease of transport back up to a workshop that I have managed to rent closer to home recently.
I didn't want to buy new ones, as they would go off before I get to use them.

I have used a local tyre fitter recently to fit tyres to my bike rims. They were recommended as being careful, and until now they've done a good job.

Things didn't go so well on Thursday...

The monkeys managed to bugger my lovely brand new Force racing rims banghead

Here's one of them after they tried bending/smashing it back into shape with a big adjustable, and a hammer....

Viva España! smash

Can anyone recommend a manual tyre changing machine with a bead breaker, that I can buy, that's nice quality? I don`t like the look of the Sealey ones.

I'll get them rolled straight, there's a company around the corner from where I work that does it. We use them every day for machining, and they are good.
If it can't be done perfect though, obviously I'll get a couple of new outer rims.
I have to get my own tyre machine, that's for sure.

boy, you assumed correctly wink No offence taken.

I have all the bits on my desk right now, for measuring everything up, so I can get the right sized bolts next week.

The censor is a bit sensitive today! I didn't know pike was a bad word confused

Well it all fits smile Sorry about the poor quality pictures...

I'm starting to get a feel for how she's going to look now. The tyres are pretty much the size and profile I'll be using. I think they fill the arches nicely.

Cyclops! I like the smaller headlights. Thought I'd pop one on to see....

I need to have a fiddle about with the handbrake cable when I get a bit of time.
I'll soon have the car closer to home. smile

Cheers,
Mick smile

Howdoo! Sorry, been away. Just came back from a cracking boys fortnight in the Isle of Man, for the Manx/classic TT. Rode my Buell up from Mallorca smile Lots of Aloominum to drool over tongue out I digress...

Yes car is on its wheels, and in its (temporary for a couple of years) new home smile

Yes I have re-tiled the floor where I had to remove the wall wink

Thanks for looking,
Mick smile

I used some spares that were in the place when we rented it.
I think they are porcelain, they're bloody hard! melted a masonry drill I was using!
If I was doing my own place, I'd use epoxy wink
I'm hoping to start building a workshop at home this summer. I've been working away in Italy on a new job since mid November. smile
I've had time to add some more Man art though wink

Sorry about the neck exercise. I don't know why it does that! :/

Not cheap, but very level and shiny smile My second option would be the classic black and white tiles laid in chequer, but they are not easy to find.

Well, that went quick! It’s been over two years, but I haven’t had my feet up!
The car hasn’t moved on, but, I managed to build the workshop with the shiny floor, put a driveway to it, and close my plot off with a great big wall.
The Caterham now lives at home, with two and a half motorcycles for company.
Yep, the shed’s full already! 😆

When I started this project, all those years back, I had my heart set on the Hartley H1.
Unfortunately, it’s no longer available.
I’ve been considering what to use instead, just lately.
My heart has been flicking from one to the other.
Sometimes, I think tiny jewel like Hartley Bolt 4 at 60 odd Kg, then I think about the easy option, and think just stick a Duratec in it, then I imagine the wonderful bark of a BDG with alloy block, and electronic injection.
What will it be?
Well, I need to top up my sock drawer before I go any further, so we shall have to see which way the wind is blowing, when I have enough beer tokens stashed in said sock drawer. wink

The H1 V8 isn't available now Harry. Although I wouldn't call it outdated.
The rights were sold to a race team.t
John Hartley builds another V8 now, but it's too wide.
I figured the Bolt 4, which is just an inline 4, which can be Naturaly aspirated, or Turbo'd, would get the car down to 400kg ish, in naturally aspirated form, and be quite lively with over 200hp.
If I go the car engine route, I would probably go for electronic injection, over mechanical, but I haven't really looked that far ahead to weigh up the pro's and con's.

They still use those systems on the BD's Harry, but electronic is also available.
John Wilcox builds BDG's with electronic injection.
Of course you are correct, emissions would be a problem with the mechanical.
Besides, I don't think I'd get all that gubbins under the bonnet🙂
