Agreed. CC build some great cars but they have to draw a balance. Is the 620 the best it could be, -No. Is it a bonkers, performace bargain -Yes.
If you don't like something, change it but don't snipe at the manufacturer trying to make a profit, FFS! BTW, making cars more individual by increasing the options list massivly increases the pressure on a small manufacturer.
Kudos to all those with a 620R on order, you have an awesome car on the way. Not having a Stack or Aces doesn't mean st, other than you won't have to experince Satck's customer service - lol
A shame Nigel sees the end in sight for his Caterham ownership, all those cars and He still never learned to drive one properly.
I am not really having a snipe at Caterham James!!If you don't like something, change it but don't snipe at the manufacturer trying to make a profit, FFS! BTW, making cars more individual by increasing the options list massivly increases the pressure on a small manufacturer.

And as far as not being able to drive one properly, i use mine for what it was intended, having fun, thats what really matters to me!!

HI Mic , I iva'd my car just before xmas with a Stack Dash, it went through Notts centre without an issue .
Whats the issue with the dash that they fail it on, as i understand there is an exclusion zone around the wheel that covers radius etc as fails.
Dave
I believe the issue is actually to do with safety around the dash itself, and relates to the need for a collapsible steering column in the event of an accident, and with the Stack unit fitted in prevents the use of the collapsible column.Whats the issue with the dash that they fail it on, as i understand there is an exclusion zone around the wheel that covers radius etc as fails.

Many cars have passed the IVA though, such as yours, and both my previous R500 and my current R500 too.

so thoughts on it from watching top gear? I rather like the colour scheme they chose for this one though it may be a marmite colour. Other than that seemed to be pretty much what I expected from it - and yes in the wet it isnt the best
It looked good on lasts nights TG.Edited by Andy Bell on Monday 24th February 14:34
Still the press demo car with the SPA type gauges though, I wonder if they will build another press car with the new style clocks as per the one from my OP which is now sold.

Looks fantastic, and quite a few dry lines too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detai...

Still not sure I would want to be taking my new 620r around there with snow on the ground!
Glad you had a good outing too!
Not been to knockhill for almost 10 years, really want to go back someday soon!

Yes I noticed that too, I can't recall if they were fitted to the Maroon car when it was the press press car!
Actually looking back at the press photos of that car when it was first rolled out, it had the other style Spa gauges in too.Looking at the video, it looks like they changed the entire dash to the newer style one, with the two large dials on the drivers side and the three smaller ones on the passenger side!
A much better look in my opinion!
I assume it has shift lights built into the Rev counter on the new style gauges too?

They did a huge amount of work to the car before sale - lots of mechanical parts stripped/checked, seals replaced, car re-dynoed (gave out just above the 310bhp) and of course the new dash fitted.
There are no shift lights - I already had a set of shift-i lights which I've now fitted. Gauges are nice and I prefer classic analogue gauges to a stack style dash, but it could really do with an oil temp gauage - don't understand why there isn't one. I'll see if I can get a suitable sender and put the water temp gauge on a switch to change between the two. The new gear indicator is good, exactly where its needed - while the previous needle gauge was pretty, it wasn't as functional.
Fantastic! Sounds like they really did a proper job for once for you to make it all it should have been prior to the sale! There are no shift lights - I already had a set of shift-i lights which I've now fitted. I agree on the oil temp, it s the first thing I look at on track days with my R500, can't be hard to get a sender into the dry sump tank too!
It's a shame they moved away from the aces shift light set up too, always been really happy with all my caterham models that had those fitted.
