I hear that Pampers are very absorbent and don't leak.

True, rubystone but i think they are harsh and unreliable when tuned sky high. Just my opinion.

Hey, I'd love a go! Mid range torque is the bit where you put your foot down in the mid range and nothing happens. Like a normal BEC. Though dual-BEC might sort this problem out admittedly :-)

Still, we're talking lots of money, time, and unproven so far.

Well, to some extent yes. But Jackal - have you done many hours in a BEC? I say it gets tedious. 8000rpm is enough to sound fantastic, especially if you're fighting for grip the whole time.

What experience have you had of highly tuned K series? In what way are they harsh? A well built and mapped engine should not be harsh.

What other engine would you suggest fits the bill (excluding the Duratec, which has been developed relatively recently)?

Fergus, i would prefer the engine from the Honda S2000 or the one in the new Caterham 260 myself. Smoother and more modern.

OK. perhaps the whole caterham thing isn't for you then?! The aeroscreen, tramlining ACB10 tyres, very direct steering aren't necesserily smooth or modern!

PS there's only one place for a K series - and that's hovering around the limiter!

I hate to be rude here guys

The Westfield, Caterham, Dax are all fairly similiar

Yes the Caterham is a production car as such, only the CSR uses independant rear,

Take a R400, Camber compensating dax, and a westfield put them on a track and i wouldnt be surprised if the times were all fairly similiar.

They all have there pro's and cons.

When it comes to racing though the Caterham is the clear winner in my opinion with its rose jointed suspension

I respect your opinion.
I have mine.
The S2000 is a better engine.
I love the R400, doesn't mean everything about it is perfect.
