If anyone wants to order a Mustang without paying the dealer a deposit try TRUST Ford they are taking deposits when they can actually spec the cars with Ford in May, anything before this is just dealer speak APART from the people who got in very early - they also seem to have a large allocation per branch.

I can PM the Mustang guy if anyone wants

Strange, the dealer I went through is TRUST FORD Bristol. They wanted 1K deposit which I paid on price release day.

So much conflicting info surrounding the UK Mustang banghead

Good Afternoon David.

Just a quick e-mail to confirm that I have past your Mustang reservation form through to my manager for him to forward to Ford UK.

Just to re-cap, the vehicle specification requested is as follows:

Ford Mustang Convertible 5.0 V8 in Deep Impact Blue with the Custom Pack.

Thank you very much for your business, and I will keep in touch.

Regards

I don't think that says or confirms anything over and above what everyone else is being told?

I bought a new Ford from Trust Ford in Wembley in September, and they advised they had 23 Mustang orders with paid deposits, also of £1000. This was before the prices were released.

It doesn't ask for £1k just to be on a dealers desk awaiting ordering - this is what annoys me that dealers are taking deposits and punters think they have paid Ford a deposit to join a que - the floodgates open in May and as I understand it whilst I may be number 1 at my dealer if my dealer is tardy ordering in may 10 other dealers may get in before them - or something like that.

The official response from my local dealer about the Focus RS is probably the same as for the Mustang:

"We are taking orders from customers who are prepared to commit based strictly on no firm confirmation of price, no guarantee on delivery date and no inferred preference on delivery over and above other customers... We will of course endeavour to process orders in the order in which they are received but this cannot be guaranteed due to operational and vehicle build constraints that may be in place from time to time by Ford.
We hope this helps clears things up but if you have any other queries please let us know."

So there's no particular point in being quick off the mark as they'll probably all get lost in the mire anyway.

Ah gotchya.

When I placed my order I HOPED it was a Ford deposit rather than dealer, but I wasn't too fussed so didn't ask. It means I'm ahead of the people that ordered at that dealer and I'm hoping that Ford will sort tye orders in date order regardless of when the dealer passes those orders on.

With the lack of information coming from.Ford themselves, it's all speculation anyway.

I have asked my dealer not to clean or valet the car. I don't want some spong monkey knackering the paint on day 1.

my BMW has stainless steel door plates that still have the blue plastic covers on them, I insisted that no-one wash my new car when I bought the BMW I'll do the same this time too, I like the idea of getting the detailer do the inspection then drive it to his to be polished and sealed (it's going to be a winter delivery).

If I go for one I just can't do the black wheel thing so want to see what the custom pack wheels look like and the Gaurd colour otherwise Ruby Red.
I used to shift spanners and the Ford main dealers in the 80 / 90's and black wheels is how they used arrive before you put the trims on !. Infact the same dealer as DSLiverpool has purchased from at the top of this page...although it was then CD Bramall...showing my age !

As far as I know, the wheels on that car are the 20" machined alloys, which are not going to be available here. There are a couple of wheel options available in the US that look nice, hopefully Ford will put them on the options list here too.

In the meantime, on the Ford UK website;

Can't decide which wheels look best. Both look epic on the Magnetic. Shall be getting some of these and the Ford Racing exhaust.
