Am I doing something fundamentally wrong with the control setup ? Everything set to basic, using keyboard numberpad for turn / pitch.

C152 down the runway, rotate and goes fine, climbing away, try and turn, nothing, nothing, nothing, wing drops and start to fall out of the sky, arrgh, correct opposite way, nothing, nothing, nothing, other wing drops, crash, fireball, menu.
Buy a wired Xbox one controller for around £20 from Argos and you'll have a much better experience. I tried keyboard for about 20 seconds before buying one.
If you already have an Xbox controller pickup one of these ...

Just so people know, the Xbox One S controller is bluetooth compatible. So no need to buy an overpriced MS wifi controller adapter for about £30. A cheap bluetooth adapter will do.
Paid £15 for mine. Looks like prices have gone up a bit but Shopto have them for 19 quid.

Of course as Jackal says if your MB has Bluetooth and you have an S controller their are cheaper options.

I think I had that too.

Did it come with the game or was it made by someone else?

ETA

Looks like all previous versions had a pilots handbook

Yeah came in the box. For some reason it was in my FS98 box ! I think 2002 also had a decent sized manual... The one that had Concorde although I gave that to a mate.

Ironic that you can probably get a screenshot to match the cover pic in MSFS2020!
Yeah lol ! I think the manual was FS5 ?

If you want a laugh set a flight up and let the AI fly it from start to finish ... Well I say finish .... Tried this yesterday with the 747. Low fuel ferry flight from Kemble to St. Athan.

A hope the residents of Cardiff were not too startled by the sonic boom biggrin

Also started off with a pristine 747 and before it created its own drift mine just north of Wick it had some kind of weird paint stripping effect going on.

How critical is connection speed and quality for the game?

I've a half decent PC, (I7-7700, 32GB DDR4, 1080ti 11GB) but the connection is utter crap.. 7mb/s on a good day, usually half that or less.

Should I bother? I really want to have a go!
Pretty important really but you can download scenery if you just want it looking nice on your route ...

I've had ORBX EU England for P3D for years but purchased TreEarth Great Britain central yesterday. Be interesting to see how it compares to 2020.

What I posted on another thread.

I hope you have bigger cases if you want the big 3090.

Although prices appear to be good if this is correct. Well apart from the 3090. RTX 3070 rumoured to be equivalent to a 2080Ti.

RTX 3090 - $1399
RTX 3080 - $799
RTX 3070 - $599
RTX 3060 - $399
Interesting ... Bought a 2070 Super with my new build last October. If the 3070 is substantially quicker I may move it on and drop one in. Looking forward to seeing the benchmarks !

We'll no doubt find out next week, but I think those prices are pretty optimistic. Wouldn't surprise me if the top-flight card is north of £1500.
Agreed and of course $599 means £599 biggrin

biggrin Interesting distraction to the approach at Manchester where the road goes under the runway. Stopped for a while to see if I could see and TVR's ....

Also noticed there didn't seem to be any drag when my Cessna was in the grass and I was also having to use a fair bit of rudder to counteract torque at walking speed ....

Luckily have my fall back .... The overall look of FS2020 really is superb however... It looks more 'real' lets hope Asobo get their act together quickly ...

There is something odd going on with roads going underneath others. Sometimes you get unnatural looking humpback bridges, sometimes one of the roads disappears and other times you get roads just crossing at the same level. Sometimes across the airport (I'm looking at you Orlando, "star" airport). You can't collide with it fortunately biggrin

The airport ground traffic in this game is mental, several times I've encountered a vehicle down the runway. I don't get why ATC tells me to give way to them - I thought they had no right of way at airports?
Yeah airport vehicles and people do what they want ... My favorite is when the High Viz guys walk straight through my prop ' Indiana Jones' style. Doesnt annoy me now I just laugh.

You just have to remind yourself it's been released 'at least' 6 months too early... Maybe more ...
