Well thats the thing - the games have to be more expensive otherwise where does the money come from?
I guess they will also be harvesting and selling your data as well. I bet the T&C's are interesting.
Google will take a share of the sales revenue form each game. The publisher sucks that up in exchange for (hopefully) and increased user base. I guess they will also be harvesting and selling your data as well. I bet the T&C's are interesting.
It's possible, I suppose, that more games will include microtransactions.

It's about critical mass. They won't be there yet, but as they get more subscribers they'll move into profit. Their hardware costs won't scale in the same way as their user base.
Unless their new customers use the thing less than the old one, or they have a lot of currently idle capacity, then their costs will scale directly with users. There's nothing particularly clever about the compute or how it scales. The interesting bit would be whether they have a whole load of different VM sizes for different games, as it could end up with wildly different running costs depending on what people want to play.
If I sign up for the free trial in November will I get access to AC Valhalla? or will I need to buy that on top?
Currently got an XBOX one which I use for F1 2019 and RDR2, I only really play games like GTA etc and get the feeling the next GTA to come out will be on the new XBOX/PS5 platform.

You'll need to buy the game on top, you get access to the free games they've made available but they won't make a newly released AAA game available to play for free.Got 10 days left on the free tiral, have cancelled 'pro' subscription, enjoyed Destiny 2 and Grid + various 'free' games but they aren't for me.......
......however I did use the £10 off voucher to buy F1 2020. Haven't played a F1 game since 2010, Grid was OK but F1 2020 is fab. I went from deciding to buy it to going around Singapore in the rain in about 60 seconds, all whilst not having to leave the kitchen table .
Gaming stuff aside no idea how these F1 drivers actually do this stuff in real life in the wet!!

Have now 'bought' Destiny 2 so I can keep playing without paying the Pro monthly subscription, Assassin Creed down to £18 on a sale at the moment, but am having too much fun with F1 2020, so I'll just get CyberPunk 2077 when its out. Going to put the Xbox on sale this weekend, will use the money to get a Stadia controller and Google streaming thingy so I can run games on the TV is I wish.
Loving Stadia. For me it work really well .

OP clearly works for Google’s marketing department, AICMFP
I work in the gaming industry, and stadia is seen as the floppiest flop in all flopdom.
I’ve no doubt that physical media will be phased out eventually, but it will not be replaced by GaaS, just by the current xbox and PS model of online stores with downloadable games.

Google have been wasting their time targeting current gamers, its people like me they should have/be targeting.I use to play loads of games, but when you have a family/busy job time becomes precious, far too precious to waste on gaming hardware or been tied to even a single device.....Have you tried to ask your father in law to go and use the other TV when they come and visit so you can play Xbox .
But with Stadia all of a sudden am putting in practice laps around Monaco between Teams calls, or trying to clear a lost sector whilst still at the kitchen table. The fact games takes literally seconds to load in the tab next to BBC news makes them so accessible.
I've spend more on games in Stadia in the last month than I've done in 2 years with my Xbox. I'll be buying Cyberpunk for full rrp when it comes out on Stadia, yes it'll be cheaper on a PC/Console but if I never get the chance to play it than its wasted money, and no one wants to waste money.
Google needs to go after us older ex gamers, thats where their market (and revenue) is. For some those of paying £1000/month on nursery/school fees, than the mortgage + bills, £50 on a Staida game we can just play pretty much anywhere with WiFi is very very easy to justify, much more so than spending time/money on a dedicated gaming system.
Google may have developed the tech to tap into an entirely new gaming market, but am not sure they have realised it.

Google should've partnered with an established name like Steam. The ideal would be being able to stream games you already own elsewhere and they simply port your library across.
I love the idea of this but I have no faith in Google keeping it up and it seems developers think the same.

If your kids are little, they sleep at 7. So you have time to play.I use to play loads of games, but when you have a family/busy job time becomes precious, far too precious to waste on gaming hardware or been tied to even a single device
If your kids are older, they can play with you. Even little ones, depending on game or a Switch with motion games.
Selfish of you to be spending time hunched over your laptop
