Ninety quid? fk that.
Well, the normal base game was always £40-£50. Then you had the choice of paying £10 per expansion/DLC and £3 per car pack.

The new Premium pack gives you:
  • Base game (£55)
  • VIP pass (£15) = £70
  • Bonus/pre-order cars (was free - but now probably £5) = £75
  • 2 x expansion (2 x £10 = £20) = £95
  • Car pass (34 cars, 1 per week @ £15) = £110
But you probably don't notice you're spending that much you pay for a car pack once a month, and an expansion every 6 months.

For PC folks, I'm getting least 20% slower fps for the same settings, so I've had to turn things down a bit on a 1060, but obviously there's been a step up in world fidelity/objects etc. anyway.
I knew that 3080Ti would come in useful for something wink

Although if I get anywhere near the 140fps @ 1440p I was getting with the 3070, then I'll be happy...until I find a nice, high refresh, 4k monitor in the Black Friday sales and see everything drop to 60fps frown

ETA, benchmark returns 93fps with everything set at Extreme (i.e. the Extreme preset, plus all the ones that are ultra changed to Extreme where possible, FXAA on, 8 x MAAA, and SSOA) @ 1440p.

Pure preset benchmarks, with a simple app restart between them:
  • Extreme (all settings manually set to max) = 93fps
  • Extreme (ray tracing high) = 104fps
  • Ultra (ray tracing high) = 120fps
  • High (ray tracing medium) = 143fps
  • Medium (ray tracing off) = 144fps
  • Low (ray tracing off) = 144fps (FH5 graphic settings won't allow uncapped)

I'm using the 'Ultra' preset at 3840x1600 with a 3080 and averaging ~110 fps in-game. Only things I changed were no FXAA (MSAA alone is fine at 1440p+ resolutions I find) and motion blur disabled. 'Extreme' adds very little visually IMO, at least that's been the case in other games like RDR2, it's daft things like shadows of particles on a puddle of water - extra resources for stuff nobody would ever see laugh

Also ray tracing is only in Forza Vista so doesn't get tested by the benchmark AFAIK..

I have noticed...even at the current extremist of the extreme settings...that there's still jaggies around the edges of models/glass/text that all the anti-aliasing settings don't remove.

Maybe a new 4K screen for gaming (or just trying in on my 4k OLED) will get rid of these.

Oddly, you can uncap the frame limiter through the in-game graphics menu (once vsync is turned off), just not the benchmark screen graphics menu.

Yes, the in-game FPS settings in mine are better than the benchmark tool.

Also, just turned 'vertical sync' off in the Video settings and am now seeing 165fps on Extreme.

Oh yeah V-Sync off, framerate unlocked! I was so glad to get G-Sync with my current monitor, it's a bloody expensive feature but great to have

My monitor is a 144Hz GSync, so had better set it to that wink

I'm liking it. It's probably because it's new but the map feels a lot bigger than FH4. I know it is about 1.5x the size but it seems a lot bigger than that so far.

Question for those playing on Windows - is there any change from FH4, in regards to in game chat? Loved FH4, but hated the fact there was no way to communicate in game with other people on the fly, other than the limited d-pad chat wheel options.

I haven't posted much in a while but am still as much a gaming car nut as ever.

'shivars' on xbox if anyone wants to drive/race together anytime

Has anyone created a "PHers" club for FH5? If not I don't mind doing so... (edit: I would check but only just bought the premium addons bundle and downloading now...)

Have had a go.
It’s very pretty. Joining around in an endless supply of fancy metal never gets old.

As I turned off, looked like a sandstorm was rolling in.

It is more of the same if we’re honest.

Is anyone else surprised that the Aston Martin Valkyrie isn't in the game?

The car list feels pretty rubbish tbh. I know the world of performance cars is past its heyday, so I expected that Horizon would go back in motorsport history to find something exciting to drive. It's so unimaginative. Where are the group C cars? LMP cars? It seems that Playground Games think we want to drive stty SUVs and three wheeler offroad buggies.

The character creator is amusing too. It seems to have plenty of options, I could even make a character with 2 prosthetic arms, but ironically I couldn't pick a character model with my skin colour.

I did look around for it yesterday, but I couldn't see it. Is the Delorean in the game yet?

I had a little go last night. Graphics are amazing and the car handling is fantastic (all aids off)

This is on PC.

Looking forward to doing some more of the time trial challenges again smile

Started playing yesterday at 3pm and played a bit more this morning so I’m 10ish hours into it and as much as I love the horizon series, had 320 hours drive time in fh4, I’m not massively in love with this.
It’s got some great improvements and it’s certainly not bad but it hasn’t really shown me anything new.

I’m not as impressed or in awe of it as I was with fh4, anyone else feel the same?
