Some help please!
Having a problem with Fire Groups. Tried reading web searches but not much help just now.
I have 2 beam lasers, 2 canon and bought a shield bank recharger thing - it's this I can't get to work. I've tried all combinations in the fire groups but no joy.
The Chaff I have works fine independently (it seems of any FG). I set beams to button 2 on the stick, cannons on the trigger and SBC on the 11th button - nope, not working. Put all weapons on FG 1 so the all fire off the trigger, still no luck.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

fire group 1 Beams on button 1 and shield cell on button 2
fire group 2 Cannon on button 1 and shield cell on button 2
fire group 3 chaff on button 1 and scanner on button 2
or
fire group 1 button 1 multi cannon and beams and shield cell on button 2
fire group 2 chaff on button 1 and scanner on button 2
as cannon as slow shell cant be used from distance change to multi cannon or go all multicannons!

Goodnight Mr Elite Anaconda
Fecking Anacondas with their fecking plasma guns.Had an anaconda spawn at a RES, had taken out about 15 of them without any great issues. The 16th hits me with something hard and my canopy is bust (nothing else damaged). I've got 7:30 of air...shouldn't be a problem. Takes me a few minutes to get out of the asteroid belt and away from the anaconda, select nearest outpost, engage supercruise...grind up to speed, grind down again, land with 3 mins remaining.
Except it doesn't do repairs. Feckity feck. Select the nearest station this time, launch again, lose 30 seconds while the blast pads retract, supercruise up again, drop out...and run out of air 1km from the station.
Cr2M in bounties and Cr5M in insurance gone. Now I've got to sell some gear to have insurance cover and working capital to grind it back. Feckers.
Even more feckity feck - just realised I should have just gone to "Outfitting" at the original outpost - that would have restored my air and at least given me another 7:30 to get to the station. And I could have cashed in my bounties. But with the timing going down, I just panicked. Feckity feck feck feckity feck.

Similar thing happened to me albeit with no where near the costs you have ( shouldn't laugh I know). I've only been playing the game about 2 weeks and it seems every day is a school day. No FPS was ever like this game.Had an anaconda spawn at a RES, had taken out about 15 of them without any great issues. Have my weapons and shields all sorted now and managed to get that all on a Cobra in the time I've been playing. Thanks all for your replies and advice. Oh and that trading web site link was a help to, managed to bank enough cash to upgrade a few things without the hassle of a shooting match, ta!

Yes, on the latest patch that is pretty good indeed. The best run I can find at the moment is about 2400/t on a round trip, had to resort to trading "unusual" things like superconductors. Takes me around 10 mins for a loop so under Cr4M/hr.
Getting pretty pissed off now actually. Lost another Cr5M today because in the trading grind I lost concentration and forgot to ask for permission to dock. Of course the station only told me once I was well into the letterbox, tried to do a quick turn inside but somehow got caught on something and I was wedged solid. Absolutely no movement in any direction, including side/up/front thrusters. Just had to wait while the countdown ticked and then the fkers blew me up. Really gets on my tits that this game can be so punishing for one small mistake. Another couple of hours grind awaits just to get back to parity...
Mental note #1007 when playing this fking game...if you are stuck on a station, just save & exit and you'll be back in space when you restart. Always wise after the event.

Apparently 1.1 will have a much better route planner, and there is some sort of mobile station heading off across the galaxy that explorers can use as a base.
Just wish there were multiple saves so I could have one commander exploring while another is in the core systems doing combat and trading.
Thank god for the new planner !!! I've not bothered with this Beta.... I thought i'd just wait and let it be a surprise ...Just wish there were multiple saves so I could have one commander exploring while another is in the core systems doing combat and trading.
Just back from my first 'stretch' of the legs with the Asp in exploration config, got 4400Ly towards galactic centre ( just over into the next spiral arm) when the lack of anything other than empty planets and stars got to me, and I came scurrying back for the sight of another ship or station.
So much for getting to Sag A this time.
Will try again once the route planning is upgraded, and may tweak the Asp to increase jump range.
Back to a bit of bounty hunting for a bit I think..

So, everyday being a school day and that, things I learned from last night!
First, after getting a Federal Invitation to go to Sol for a 'debriefing' there's no need to drop everything and go. It's just a badly worded way of giving you the system permit. There is no-one to meet you when you get there (although I did have fun looking around for a bit).
Secondly, accepting a navy black ops kill mission in Alpha Centauri is problematic, especially when you have to supercruise 0.22Ly to the station at Proxima Centauri to repair, refuel and clear your wanted status and bounty. It took over an hour in supercruise to get there achieving a speed of almost 1900C (during which time we had dinner, cleared and washed up and had a brew Obviously I was risking an interdiction but there was literally no other ships anywhere for the whole journey). And when I got there, they refused my docking request due to being full! Thankfully a ship left almost immediately but toys would have been thrown!
Lastly, taking on a Dangerous Federal Drop Ship in an Asp can get expensive. I got him in the end, but not before I was down to 38% hull which cost 125,000Cr to repair

So, after running between Eravate, Yakabugai and LS3447 trading, I finally got to the point where I could ditch the sidewider for an Eagle. Similar size, but better in combat.
In just over an hour of play with the Eagle, I've amassed more credits than many, many hours of play so far, by taking out anything with a wanted status. I say anything; I mean anything that I reckon I could 'have'!
I'll get some more cash behind me, upgrade the ship and go exploring soon I reckon. Really loving the game now.
I did however, almost get a bout of motion sickness the other day! I've got three screens, which I sit fairly close to. In the dark of my office, it's all I can see and I've learned that constant barrel rolling during attacks really does get the stomach!

I've also got three screens and a couple of times have also felt slightly sick! Nothing too bad but it does get you. I actually upgraded my setup only yesterday, I swapped out my 3x LG screens for 3x Dell 2414H monitors. The Bezels are only 6mm so it's a vast improvement over the old and looks and feels superb in the game. Setup wasn't too bad (although if anyone does get them be aware they do need tweaking to get the best colours out of them) and aligning them on the triple mount was pretty quick too. All in all I'm really pleased with them.Edited by grenpayne on Monday 9th February 17:04
