New GTR racing season choices

rFactor isn't even out yet. And judging by the demo and GTL which uses the same engine everyone will have to run it in very basic graphics mode and low screen res to stop the same laggyness happening. Or upgrade their PC's.
I guess so, it's just annoying that we've lost our host, so now we are stuck either only having 6 in a race, or otherwise we are at the mercy of the crappy public servers.
Given that of the 10 or so races I've been part of with GTR, at least half have caused a problem for me, and every one has caused a problem for at least one person, how crap can a game be and keep us all coming back for more?
It's a shame because aside from the bugs it could have been a game to keep coming back to for a long time. As it stands I'm near the point of removing it, since I've had a string of problems culminating in a re-install last week.

As soon as I upped the cooling all the problems stopped. Currently I've just removed the side but will be installing some case fans when I get around to it. Could this be related to your problems?

Fraid not, the PC is only about a 3 months old and can carve through other games and video encoding for hours with no issues.
Problems for me and for others have been - unable to join games, unable to host games, unable to even see games in the lobby, dodgy chat rooms, invisible chat rooms, crashing when trying to leave the pits, crashing when trying to join a game, crashing when driving round normally. Every week at least one person can't join the game - last night I believe the victims were Petrol Vapour and D_Mike.
Since the re-install it's been fine, so it was likely to be one of the multitude of add-ons that was causing the crashing - but frankly most of the other errors are just down to unforgiveable lack of development from SimBin.
All that said, I'll still buy GT Legends when it comes out!

we shall have to try and sort something out...
does anybody see the long-term future of the GTR evenings being in GTL though?
I suppose the future is whereever the numbers are - from what I understand GPL fizzled out as people stopped playing it. It's now been replaced by GTR which will probably remain for quite a while, until people stop playing that too.
Whatever I say in my whingy whiney posts, I will carry on playing GTR until something else replaces it! When it works it's just too much fun!
I've contacted jolt.co.uk about a dedicated server for us to use for GTR. The response I have received is that it can be done for a cost of £65 per month. Now bearing in mind we were paying greater green £5 per race each, and an average of say 8 users each race - that equates to an actual saving of £95 per month (based on 4 weeks)
So what do you think - it will cost everyone £2 a week ? I've actually raced online a few times before and there has been no problems hosting 25+ users without any lag.
Not sure on how to pay for it etc etc, but can find out.
Here is a links to the server and details of the service.

Mike won, and I think PV does get a few connection problems anyway so likely to be localised.
Not usually FWD, It was just my turn for the GTR elbow last night, my connection is pretty good with everything apart from GTR, which I will drop like a hot stone if GTL is any good, though not been able to run the demo crashes me out for some reason, I'd rather upgrade the PC a little to run the GTL engine, it's all about the fun for me and GTR is more frustrating than fun.
Good race at Barcelona though guys

Sorry to bail on you guys, but I just got fed up with the dedicated server. So many problems, discontinued development, lack of support, etc etc. Besides, rFactor may be released any day now. Also, rFactor will run on lower-end machines. It has DX7-and-up support. Check it out for yourselves. If you like it, I'd be interested in getting to league action myself.
