Alrightie, been back on it tonight, and got me a 6:15.010, which was nice smile .

Wasn't expecting to get that much off the 6:28 I set before in the Acura, but I managed it in the Audi. Just been trying to get a clean lap round in the Porsche, and failed hehe . So this will probably be my time now.
It's not updated to the website yet but I always do the final board straight from Xbox live so don't fret about the leaderboad above!

I head off around midnight tonight with work and still have to pack my case, so unlikely I'll get enough time to squeeze in a few laps to set a clean time - really annoying as that 6:18 was with one tiny off 2 corners before the mini-carousel frown

I showed the missus a couple of laps of the Ring last night just to show her why I had locked myself away with specific orders not to be disturbed for a few nights over the last couple of weeks.

Two things she said.

1. How does your brain compute so fast.

2. Why do you do this? It must shorten your lifespan by a few years - you use up more concentration in a few laps of this than you would during a year of most people's work!

I can't answer 1. but all I know is that you get used to it - stuff slows down. I was trying to get a winning lap with the R1s and then had an A Class online race afterwards and the world moved in slow motion!

2. I love the application it takes - makes me feel alive tbh. I'm a full on bloke - work, home, anything - I like to know I have done my best. When I've been beaten - it has been by some special guys.

I'd also like to say that I have huge respect for the guys that have taken part in all of the challenges with a controller - it's been hard enough getting perfect lines with a wheel.

I take my hat off chaps.

Nice comment, Asterix. Its been a good run of events, and it is hard to explain to people that you cant come right now and you'll be there in a minute when theres just racing car noises coming from the room. It really is that important not to have people wandering in and asking stuff when you're half way around the 'ring hehe . Oh and controller a go go here smile .

Thanks nessiemac and BugeyedAndy for this - great fun (I just did a token clean lap to due to limited time this week - although I wouldn't have pushed it more than a couple of places higher due to talent restrictions!)

Looking forward to any future events, many thanks again,

Francis.

Well I'm going to have to let my 6:14 stand as my final time, I've done loads of 6:05s now but they always have a small error which is infuriating. I was on a 6:00 lap when I did the R1 enduro until I passed a back marker and he draughted me which bought up a triangle, I switched it off at this point as I was ready to throw the console out the window! I'm looking forward to the new events already, it's been emotional!

Can't wait to see the final times tonight as it is very close at the top and anyone can take it...driving

Anyway.................

As i said before i don't think Andy or myself are going to run another full season again for the reasons mentioned but i have a couple of ideas for the next couple of weeks as one off TT's so as of midnight tonight the challenge for the following week is.....

Class - R3
Track - Sedona Raceway......Sedona DRAG 1/4 mile......yikes

Chosen R3 class as there are a few cars you can max out to the R3 limit so plenty of choice for unusual choice of cars..(Datsun 510 anyone??!!)

So who fancies something a wee bit different this week??

Should be fun?laugh

biggrin and here's me getting frustrated at my 7:00:360 clean lap!

The talent gap on this circuit is clearly huge....

It is very entertaining chasing your times!

And yet again, I've come close, but no cigar.

0.3 seconds behind, but that's me done. I've got a stinking hangover, and I've driven a long way today. Time to admit defeat and give up. smile

Did two more endurance races last night..... in all I did four races (36 laps) in the last two weeks and I think I only managed 6 or 7 clean laps!

My first clean lap was 6.49 and I finished with a 6.21 last night so I'm very happy.

I think the 'ring is less about the cars and more about driving (and less about braking and more about keep the foot down!), so it's been huge fun.

Can't imagine how that Group C guys in the 80s managed to run 6.30s/40s in races in real life! At least we got the pause button and rewind. Much respect and admiration to the real life racers.

Thanks for the TT guys.

im also a controller man... its been the toughest one this ring malarky... just when you think its going well a random corner throws you off! With the concentration i know what you mean.. i had to pause my lap for 5 mins while some hoovering was going on through the house!

Another controller user here, I just can't go in a straight line when I use a wheel! It doesn't get much worse than doing a good clean lap only to bin it on that fast section just before the last four corners, don't know how many times I've done that these last two weeks.

I love the Nurburgring though, the PHring races we did in Forza 2 were epic, the class B Skyline I used is the only car I've ever spent a lot of time tuning.

Really? Which wheel have you got? I love my M$ wheel and it's so much better than pad.

Can't drift the car to save my life though. (with the wheel)

January has been a bit of a time consumer for me and I have failed to even turn on the xbox for 3 weeks which is a shame, bloody real life/tax returns/upsetting the wife all getting in the way of a good old spin around the 'ring.

Sorry guys for not making it to the end but some very impressive lap times out there, just wish I could have put some challenging times in for you.

This is from the days of Gran Turismo 4, I bought that Logitech wheel that was released about the same time as the game, can't remember it's name but it was about £100. It felt great with all the force feeedback but I coudn't get used to it.
