The lag was crucifying me - dropping the wife off at the airport and then probably on for a wee bit more.

Well I feckjing enjoyed that.

Took a while to get everybody into the server but when it got to about half full it was great.

My arse stiil hurts from the beasting that 3sixtyph gave me. but the head shot, tags, pistol combo I put on him in the metro round soothed it a little.

We really need to get more than one admin up and running then this will be the bks.

BRING ON SATURDAY!!!!shoot

That was great fun guys. Got a load of unlocks and a promotion or two as well. I need to sort out my itchy trigger finger though. Many a time I've rounded a corner to see a team mate suddenly appear and I try to empty a clip into their head! Sorry if it happened to you.
I don't feel so special now either, as I thought 3sixtyPH was giving me all his but hurt attention.

Right new motherboard, cpu, and ram installed.

New GFX card ans power supply on the way If that doesn't sort things out then I'm just going to start petrol bombing the different software houses until they start making games for my exact set up.

The inconsiderate sods.

A lot of games were suffering from " display drivers have stopped working but have recovered" crashes.

A lot, and I mean a lot, of googleing and experimenting later I was left with no solution except for 3

1)I had a old mobo with a pcie 1.0 slot and I learned that the hd5670 gfx card I had wasn't 100% backwards compatible.

2)My psu wasn't supplying enough power.

3)The gfx card was faulty from day one.

So having reached the end of my tether I have got :-

AMD FX-4100 3.6 ghz
8gb 1333 ddr3 ram
m5a78l-m mobo

The problem still persists so that leaves power and faulty gfx card so arriving Wednesday I have :-

HD 7750 (overclocked)
Thermaltake PSU SMART 630W/80plus (this has several sterling reviews)

An expensive process of elimination and if it doesn't work I shall just cry. frown

Me too, Sixty was like a machine in that round!

Made me realise why I always like squadding up with him biggrin

Some great games last night, I got my first tank-heli kill with unguided shells on Kharg, then finally killed an attack chopper with an RPG on Canals too woohoo

I see we also got the Ace squad ribbon on a couple of them Kempy.

Looking forward to the next lot now, might try and get on tonight if my fundage prevents me from going out hehe

It finally seems to have settled down for me since I've switched to the HD6970.

Ah ok, well its still a decent setup you have!

I have just tried BF3 in ultra and it doesn't seem all that different to high/med settings.

Have you checked temperatures? I've seen a lot of the 'display stopped working and recovered' messages from over-heating.

I reckon most of them would be pretty difficult unless you are using voice comms, but the fire in the sky (helicopter) mission can be done ok and you can just repeat this to get the required points for the unlocks.

I was lucky to do the co-op missions whilst sat in the same room as my team-mate, and even then a couple of the later ones took several tries due to having to get timing spot on or mission fails. This would be bloody hard without voice comms!

I'll def do the helicopter mission though if you like- I can fly pretty well, it's just a case of killing ground troops before they kill the friendlies, isn't too hard if the pilot keeps the chopper stable and gunner is pretty sharp. We managed it on hard at the first attempt. I should be on at some point tomorrow so let me know if you want to give it a try smile

Temp was the one thing I knew it wasn't. I have very good cooling.

I check a lot (it was what killed my first ever pc) and my cpu and gxf never go above 50oC.

Still one crash every 45 mins or so at the mo so I can live with that till Wednesday when my new bits arrive.

My money would be on your old psu being the issue. This has caused me similar problems in the past. They have a tendency to get flakey when the gfx card is pushing them to there limits. I never scrimp on psu spec in my pc builds now. I see you have done your research on your new psu. Hopefully you will have less down time and more killing time soon.
