Well that m nearly finished on the harder level now, I started all over again so whilst it was slow to start with due to being better at it, even with crap guns etc I managed to blast through it.
I'm now loving taking on hordes for fun!
Didn't you start the new game in "New Game+ ", that way you keep all your previously accumulated weapon's, power-ups (character ones), credits and trust at camps etc.I'm now loving taking on hordes for fun!

I might leave it a while now to try another game but come back at some point to play it on NG+ but a much harder level.

No i started the game afresh on the next hardest level, which due to getting better at the game still wasnt that much of a challenge.

About ten hours or so in, seems quite samey, burn nest go to NERO, burn nest, and I’m feeling incredibly underpowered. The bike is quite frustrating running out of gas frequently (have the tank upgrade). Hope it picks up.
I was like that when I first started but persevered with it and it does get better. There are plenty of fuel stations around so you shouldn't struggle for fuel.
Getting better guns and improving your skills definitely helps.

Got it free last month on PS Plus.
Will be installing it soon.
I got it on PS Plus too, played it fairly regularly and the gameplay does move from stealthy fear to deliberate horde baiting quite well over the course of the game. Will be installing it soon.
Reasonably telling but it's only the 2nd game I've ever got the platinum for (the other being Wreckfest during lockdown 1).

Any other similar game recommendations?
I've just started red dead redemption 2 and all I can say is that whilst it's very pretty it's as slow as st and I'm already bored of riding a horse.
RDR2 is probably a better game overall than Days Gone, and I think most would agree with that. Stick with it it’s up there with Fallout in terms of playability and longevity. I've just played through RDR2 for the second time, it really is astonishingly pretty and the amount of detail that has gone into modelling the "world" is staggering. It all feels so natural. It is, however, a differently paced game to Days Gone, and there's as much to be had out of exploring the world as there is in playing the story IMO, if that's your thing. I enjoyed the exploring more than the story tbh, mainly because I thought all my camp and gang mates were a bunch of coconuts who were holding me back!
There is a lot of horse riding, though there's a pretty generous fast travel option not far away. I think R* tried to make the fast travel less obvious so that it encouraged people to experience the world and the many, many random encounters you can have on the way.
Different strokes for different folks though; I tried GTAV for the first time last month, hated it. Gave it a couple of evenings and uninstalled it.

I'm like you also, couldn't stand RDR2, got bored stupid spending hours staring at a horses arse! I enjoyed GTAV though, that was great fun a funny.I've just started red dead redemption 2 and all I can say is that whilst it's very pretty it's as slow as st and I'm already bored of riding a horse.
If you want something similar to Days Gone, try Horizon Zero Dawn if you haven't already. similar ways of getting skills and weapons and upgrading them/crafting them etc. A beautiful open world and interesting story.
I'm playing this now on PS5, looks great at 60fps.
It's a fun game but man, it's like an iron man race. It's one of those games that feels longer than it is, I think.
For those who've completed it, how close to the end of the story am I? I've just seen that my wife is still alive and joined the militia. How far along am I, 75% maybe?

I bought it a few weeks ago based on recommendations from another PH thread. I’m bored with it, and I’m not even that far through.
I think part of the problem is the characters and story haven’t grabbed me. But also, the last ‘open world’ game I put a lot of time into was Red Dead Redemption 2. An almost perfect game. Days Gone feels like it tries to do a lot of the same things, but not nearly as well.
