I hope you're right. And it's not even finished yet, once they sort a few bugs out it will be perfect.
I have gone from updating my Graphics card to buying a new Motherboard, chip,RAM and PSU in a fit of perfectionism and now amusingly find my graphics card to be the weakest part I bought

Hopefully later this evening it wll all be done and I can join in.

I'll be on a bit throughout the week, didnt have much joy over the launch weekend - Friday night spent trying to sort out the ruddy Origin / connection / etc woes, then the weekend was just too hectic. Need to start levelling up !. See you on the battlefield

I am tempted to get this. What are people's general impressions?

But i have to agree, its not perfect yet, i find the game crashes on average for me once an hour but im dealing with it
Personally i find it to be much more enjoyable than CoD
We need to arrange a day/time we're all online to meet up in the Pistonheads server
I'm on most weekday evenings from 8pm. Over the weekend if i'm not in the pub im on the Battlefield.
I'm gonna send invites out tonight to everyone on the list. I dont mind joining the PH server if its empty, doesnt take long to get a game goine.
I'm getting 'server timeout' disconnects frequently, will try the UPNP thing later.

Like wise if I'm not in the pub or the garage I will be on. I'm gonna send invites out tonight to everyone on the list. I dont mind joining the PH server if its empty, doesnt take long to get a game goine.

I have a q6600 cpu and a hd5770 graphics card. I have the latest drivers. I had a bit of a go yesterday and put the graphics to ultra. It all seemed to play perfectly with no jerking. How is this? My mate has just spent £1500 on a new pc so he can play BF3 at max but for some reason he can't. I admittedly only played for about 15 mins so it still has time to go wrong, but has anyone else had good framerates with an old and cheesy hd5770?

I'm now going to up my gfx detail level (HD6570 here - playing on medium 1440x900) - what resolution was that on?swiftpete said:

What card did he spec? The total price of the build is irrelevant if he cheaped out on a graphics card.Maybe his PC is too good. He might have such high framerates in game that the monitor cant keep up. Try enabling 'VSync' in game and it will cap framerates at the monitor's refesh rate(typically 60). It used to happen to me on BC2, i use a TV as my monitor and moving quickly / spinning suddenly would cause judder and the appearance of lag becasue the screen couldnt physically cope with the number of frames being sent to it.
If you have trouble with hit recognition try adjusting the FOV (Field of View) i think the default is 70 but use this tool to calculate what your screen is best suited for http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculat...
for example my screen at 1920 x 1080 should be set to 59 - whereas 70 is my default. It can help your hit recognition by showing a truer center and it can also enable you to see left and right further without moving your soldier. It may of course do nothig for you! In which case you can put it back to default

The smaller levels do have a few issues however. I wasn't overly taken by Operation Metro in the demo (the tube tunnels become a choke-point) and with 64 players it's even worse. Same with Damavan Peak & 64 players - just gets stupid as both teams end up (generally) firing rockets down the two 'corridors' either side of the main tunnel. That said, they're minor gripes & the other levels more than make up for them.
The demo played OK on my 5770 but being a sucker for upgrading I've gone for a Powercolor 6850 PCS+ which runs it very fluidy with everything set to High, only problem being I needed to upgrade my case to get better cooling

Just out of interest what controllers are you folks using? Being a cack-handed witch I'm using mouse in my left hand for aim/fire etc and moving with cursors keys with CTRL for jump, DEL for reload, RSHIFT for prone which has seen me OK through the years. Always find myself running out of buttons on that part of the keyboard however & wondered about one of the Logictech G13 and 'reprogramming' myself to use mouse in the right hand..
One issue I have noticed that wasn't present in the demo is that when joining a server the actual BF3 executable doesn't appear full screen but appears on the task bar. If I don't maximise it quick enough then when it goes full screen it does nothing and generally stops working.
On the plus point the server browser is huge improvement over earlier ones
I'm left handed but for some reason use my right hand for mousing. I've got a Sidewinder X4 and I'm using the default keys and a RAT7 gaming mouse. Seems to work ok.
Not had any stability problems myself apart from occasioal graphical glitches. The squad management was a little funny too. I couldn't join a friend's squad even after it was made public but hopefully that'll be fixed in the patch along with party join issues. The voice in battlelog is surprisingly good too. It's just a shame that you can't use voice with randoms if you want to.
