Red Dead Redemption 2 (NO SPOILERS)
Discussion
Restarted the story this weekend, only doing the story missions, ignoring the pleas for help & assistance, shooting anyone who annoys me in the face, etc.
I can see why people were turned off at the beginning, takes a good couple of hours to get past the "tutorial" stage.
Thinking of keeping the Bandanna on at all time, stay COVID & TB safe...

I idly loaded up the online version for the first time this week, expecting to have a go for an hour and leave it.....
I'm hopelessly addicted, I think the fact that you can just jump in and do a simple mission with a gunfight appeals to me, the story missions can see you trailing about doing odd stuff sometimes....Wading though a swamp collecting crab pots the last time I played, when I just wanted a gunfight....
I like the co op story missions, not too fussed on the competitive stuff, though I do surprisingly well at them... joint top on my first ever go at one!

Have you started any of the "roles" yet?I'm hopelessly addicted, I think the fact that you can just jump in and do a simple mission with a gunfight appeals to me, the story missions can see you trailing about doing odd stuff sometimes....Wading though a swamp collecting crab pots the last time I played, when I just wanted a gunfight....

Seems you need 25 gold bars to start, and it looks like you need to buy them rather than earn them.

You can earn them but it's slow, I've started trader, bounty hunter and collector and haven't bought any gold with real money.Seems you need 25 gold bars to start, and it looks like you need to buy them rather than earn them.
Doing some daily challenges speeds up gold earning.
Yeah they are more simplistic than the story mode missions.. It is repetitive but I'm finding it addictive...for how long...who knows?
I'm enjoying a wild west free roaming skyrimy game, with a character I created.
The thing that annoys me about the story missions on all rockstars games is that you have to stand in the exact spot rockstar want you to, use the items they want you to...follow their instructions to the letter, surprisingly linear for such rich open worlds.

Finally finished the game after a few months as I'm a crap player.
Great ending, especially the UFO ... only joking but something I did observe while playing
Missions seemed to be:
Really oddly when you are in a punch up even if you are holding weapons you cannot stand back and shoot them.
But it certainly does have that wonderful feelgood ending and although I have GTA5 I've never played it but that's my next one.

Missions seemed to be:
- Speak to character
- Jump on horse
- Ride across map showing lovely scenary
- Listen to an update and background of gang while riding behind them
- Turns into nighttime
- Support person you are with
- Get thanks
- Time passes
- Reward given

GTA V is all show and no substance, it's not a very good game. It took me an age to finish as I could not spend more than about an hour on it at a time, whereas RDR2 I could happily do 6-7 hour stints.
Not played GTA but can agree on the ability of RDR2 to easily Eat many hours. I really enjoyed the story, those cut scenes where you're riding back to the camp with music playing, and the final mission clips... I was completely drawn in.
My game timer was something like 13 days!

I'm a few hours in and despite struggling with the controls I'm loving it. Don't mind the slow pace (for now), I've spent ages just hunting or riding around exploring a bit.
My biggest problem is I'm playing on xBox, and after 20+ years of mouse+WASD on PC I really struggle with aiming, and the controls in general. Much prefer a mouse and keyboard. Unfortunately I think my current machine will struggle to cope and I'm not quite ready to upgrade. Hopefully I'll pick it up as I progress...
I’ve been doing the online portion of it over the past few weeks.
Getting 25 gold isn’t too difficult once you get a streak going for the multiplier.
Chose moonshining, there’s a good few missions to do, some of which are quite hard (well, not exactly hard, just time/bullet consuming.
Totally opposite experience to the online portion of GTAV, everyone tends to keep to themselves, unlike GTV where you get sniped while flying a jet..

Yeah I failed the second moonshiner mission first time (where you rescue the guy from a prison wagon) because I actually ran out of bullets there were so many enemies... second attempt was a bit easier as it was in a different location, plus I'd filled up on every ammo before I started..Getting 25 gold isn’t too difficult once you get a streak going for the multiplier.
