I think it's more a bit of fun or novelty, after you lose your fear of zombies (just run past them and through buildings to lose them) and you can find enough beans, all that is left is to just start shooting other people for sport.

I will say that the original game and the sheer number of mods out there is well worth it at £16.

The Wasteland Mod, having found the servers online (searching in game does not show any of them up) is very good, you find some nice guns, lots of transport about and you get a lot of fun side missions, there is always something to do, but this time you can load up a Chinnock and start straffing some towns, great fun!

I thing most weapon systems in the last 50 years are represented in some form in mods, so if you like that sort of thing and technical accuracy, its a must.

Standard DayZ mod, UK108 hosted by 'ull Uni.

DayZ Mod just appeared on Steam, hopefully bring a few more people to it and let them test Steam ready for the standalone smile

Does that require ARMA2 to have been bought on Steam? I have the retail pack.

I have no idea sorry...you can register retail games with Steam if you have a product code I think? Worth a go. I think you need Op Arrowhead too.

It's easier to get DayZ commander (free download) and that will install the DayZ mod automatically, and give you a list of servers to join.

I've been playing it a bit, and I know Asterix has been. Not had much time to do it over the past week though, perhaps a lot of the morons who were making it annoying to play have found something else to do. Had a few really good games, and a couple on the more military type missions. Really think joining in with the sort of stuff Matt is doing is going to be the only way to play with reasonable people, even on the new one.

Not sure if anyone seen the few clips put up on Sacriels channel from the presentation about the standalone, but seems they are making some progress at least.

Must be more on the net somewhere, but this is the only place I've seen videos crop up so far.

This looks awesome, is it worth waiting for the stand alone thing above, or should i just bite the bullet and buy the full arma bundle?

Alan if you're thinking of coming over and doing a bit of milsim stuff give me a shout on the TS first. There is quite a big download for MSO (like a deployment in terms of game type) a persistent world, probably the best way to play milsim stuff as there are lots off air and ground assets to use (if you're cleared to do so) and I've had some truly epic times on there.

On another note for those of you who read this who played with my on Survival Ops Hard Corps back on Cherno with ACE it's just started back up again... This time it has ACRE too! It's in a week of open testing right now to iron out any bugs before it gets a wipe and you don't start with a weapon anymore.

Stand alone is a way off yet I think, they are talking about alpha testing in June at the earliest.

As said before - I'd love to join you for the milsim stuff but the time difference kills me as the ops are often hours long. I don't want to let anyone down by having to log early frown

I've not really got time at the moment, and I'm not going to have net access for a while starting from the beginning of June. With that in mind I don't really want to start if I can't commit to playing it consistently, as you get bad at it and then get distracted with other stuff I've found.

Will watch the video and take a look though, as I'd like to get involved once I've moved and things have settled down smile
