There's always someone who, when you say you've just had a weekend in Tenerife, will tell you they've just come back from 2 months in their villa in Twelverife. wink

BTW, does it count at all that I've clocked up those 250+ hours in less than 2 months?
I expect my recorded time to be inspiration for your next year of game play biggrin

Does it not say on the save game how many hours you have in? On Xbox it does, I know I had around 130 hours in my first playthrough. Not sure about my second now.

I could see myself playing through a third time if I'm honest once I'm done with the second.
Yes and no. If you do multiple endings, then each time you complete an ending you are returned to "the point of no return" and the save game hours seem to revert to the value they were at when you passed the "point of no return". At least on the PC version anyway.

So all the hours I have spent playing the endings are not counted in my save game hours, it seems.

Oh really?

I'll have to check at the weekend if it changes on my completed save file if I play it for a bit.

What I mean is...

  • You walk up to the door of the club to talk to Hanako at time N. This is the 'point of no return'
  • You play through an ending, taking let's say 2 hours. You save just before the ending, so your save says N+2 hours
  • At the conclusion of the ending, you choose "one more gig" and you awaken outside the club again (ie. you are returned to the 'point of no return'). Effectively the game has reloaded your last save / last checkpoint, but it gives you some of the cool gear you picked up during the ending.
  • You save. It says N hours again not N+2. Which, if it has effectively reloaded your last save, sort of makes sense. But see my note below.
  • You go off and do some side quests for 3 hours and then save, and it now says N+3 not N+5
NOTE: In other games that also have this "go back to the 'point of no return'" mechanic, for example The Outer Worlds, the number of hours played past the 'point of no return' are counted.

Oh, btw, if you have completed an ending (any ending) and you remembered to loot the Access card off Adam Smasher after defeating him and you then return to the Ebunike (the ship in dry dock he used as a base) then you can get the Crafting Spec for the Ba Xing Chong, which is an amazingly overpowered Smart shotgun with some pretty brutal explosion and dismembering effects. It's hilarious. Wish I had gone back to get it earlier but I didn't know about it.

Also, whilst there, if you didn't pick up Johnny's Porsche 911 then you will find it in a shipping crate.

Ah ok, I never went back and tried for any of the other endings. Although I did tool around for a while and finish off a few other side missions and bits (as well as that thing you mentioned in spoilers). But I get what you mean now.

I've done all the main game endings. Some of them are really depressing and actually genuinely made me blue for an evening. Especially the Arasaka ending, which was actually the first one I did. It kind of upset me.

I like the Panam ending with Judy romance the most. That's the nearest you can get to a happy ending, in my opinion. It's the one I want to believe.

Arasaka may not be the darkest...
Did you do the suicide one as well - that's arguably the darkest

Yes, I did the one in your spoiler tag. But that didn't upset me as much as the Arasaka one. The latter just felt totally hopeless with no closure.

It really is a great game. I only started playing a couple of months ago on xbox series x, I’ve had maybe a couple of crashes in that time, it’s now completely stable with the updates.

I would recommend to any other newcomers that you buy phantom liberty from the outset. Playing it after completing the main story feels a bit limited.

I’m at 80hrs, 100+ and double that blows my mind, what are you doing?!

Planning to finish phantom liberty and go with the ending option where you go in solo and then I think I’m done for a bit. Will ‘do’ rdr2 properly after that and then maybe come back for a second play through with a different character background.

I do agree that the ending with Judy seems the best resolved. Not an option for me given I’m in the Middle East, the romancing option to get to it just isn’t available

It's funny you should say that (and I really don't see why that needed to be in spoiler tags other than your circumstances, and I doubt that would defeat any spooks) but as I wander around Night City I see many couples together and unless I have overlooked something, they all seem to be hetero. Despite the romancing options that are available to V. I initially thought that odd but in the light of what you said, maybe it makes it easier to censor the game for some markets

Incidentally, only some endings with Judy are positive. Some are depressing. In several endings (and these are actual spoilers) you and her just don't make it. In a few she says she just needs to leave Night City, and parts on good terms. In others she just straight up moves on from you and leaves Night City. In the endings where she doesn't get closure, she is fked up over losing you. The only way to stay with her is to leave Night City with the Nomads and take her with you. Which is the Panam ending.

Actually, that reminds me, the ending where Johnny keeps V's body are possibly the worst as he is such a ststain that he doesn't even give V's friends and loved ones closure. Rogue tells him he is a piece of st for doing that and to never talk to her again. Judy cries her eyes out and says to just pick up. Johnny didn't have a redemption arc after all. And I was starting to like him too. wker.

And... breathe.

Yep. I’m not worried about spooks, homosexuality is legal here just evidently they don’t want it promoting even on an R18 game. Watch tv here and the goriest of gore of displayed, but same sex scenes are cut out.

I didn’t realise initially and thought I had made a mistake so replayed a prior save before twigging. I do feel as though the Nomad, Judy, Panam ending is the best / most resolved storyline.

Also agree. Having completed the main game including all the ‘Johnny’s mates’ missions he seems a lot more friendly in phantom Liberty and my relationship with him as per the menu is 90%. Hence thinking when I clear dogtown my final go through the endings will be just him and v.

I got the Johnny in v’s body as my first ending which annoyed me immensely. Luckily I’d hit the point of no return with a bunch of side missions left (including the johnny story arc) which took that away mostly. I’ve no interest in the arasaka endings, I can imagine if you got that the first time it could well be a controller / tv interface moment.

Totally.

In some ways I'm glad that, as a female V, I didn't get to romance Panam as she ended up as my bestie choom and Judy as my g/f. And that ending, of all the ones I have done (haven't done the new Reed "Tower" ending added for Phantom Liberty yet, but I have read spoilers) feels like that is my canon ending. For me.

To quote Steve Martin in the film L.A. Story... "A kiss may not be the truth but it is what we wish were true.” and that is the ending that I want to be true.

And in my head canon, now I know Reed, it is a Panam + Judy + Reed ending where Reed finds a cure for my V. Because Reed is an arse with misplaced loyalty who will now do anything in his power to help V. Also in my head canon he looked after Songbird and now she is helping too.

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this game after the initial brilliance. It seems to have such an unrelentingly despondent mood. Perhaps I need to start pissing about and avoiding the main quest. I normally complete the main quest on first run through and then in subsequent goes explore the extras.

As a feat of creation it is quite superb though.

So, entirely in keeping with the genre of cyberpunk then

It's kind of like observing that Skyrim seems to have an awful lot of swords and magic. wink

I didn’t know that as I’m new to the idea and genre of cyberpunk, but thanks for the attempt at arch humour. Is being faintly patronised a worthwhile Sunday activity?

I'm sorry if it came across like that. It was meant to be gentle ribbing rather than rude. frown
