Some amazing races at Brands Hatch in the Daily C today. GT Boca guys doing 1:29.2 in the race. Poles are low 1:28s. I need to be much braver on the three 4th gear right handers. And lunatic through Paddock Hill.
I've raced Sonic & Momo a lot and chatted to them on messenger - both are very quick and very nice chaps. Starting to get to the point I'm racing a similar group of drivers a lot of the time (particularly grp3 10 lappers). Makes the racing really good fun as you get to know their pace and style, and you know you can trust them enough to race very closely.
I can usually out qualify the Bocca guys by a tenth or 2 (except at Brands, where Momo is incredibly fast), but much more difficult to out race them... they are very consistent and also great on strategy - they've given me the right map plan a couple of times on the 10 lap events.
20s over 10 laps isn't too bad given they are regularly top 10 qualifiers (or just outside).
Not sure if you've seen these sites...
GTS stats - register with your PSN to see your World and Country ranking on a number of measures

Change the 7 digits at the end of the address with your PSN profile number to see your SR and DR progression (get the 7 digits from your PSN log on address)

I would imagine your SR/DR graphs will look hysterical
They're, erm, erratic. Won't look at that too much!
I'm halfway up DR A again though! Highest I've been for a while by the look of it.

Momo's the fastest one I've raced.. he whupped me good several times at Interlagos last week in the grp3 10 lap event.
One week on from buying it and I am enjoying it! Only speaking of the online portion, as offline is a bit disappointing but I knew that before buying it - After doing the licenses I was a bit surprised to find that was 25% of the game done!
I have been doing the daily races, started with the one make trucks as that was all I had. Had some good races in those and very clean despite the large unruly vehicle choice. I was gifted a GP 3 Mazda so have been using that in those races, prefer the longer 10 lap format to the sprints. Had some success at Brazil, a pole and even a win or two which I was well happy with. That raised my ratings up (B I think now) and I am with quicker drivers, although the races don't seem to be as clean unfortunately - I think more because I am in the mid pack. Only did one race on Maggiore as I found it a bit of an awkward track. Will do some more on Friday and see how that goes!
I seem to concede a lot of places in the first lap or so as I am to cautious. Normally just letting people by if they look like they will make a stupid move. This seems especially problematic on sharper corners as if you brake and take the normal line they will just throw it up the inside an expect you to just not turn in.
Need to have a look at the GP 4 offerings and see what I can buy to use for those.

I would recommend finishing the off line - the Missions and Circuit Challenges - it will help you get used to the way the cars handle and to get some money to buy cars.I have been doing the daily races, started with the one make trucks as that was all I had. For Group 4, you need to buy the M4, which is an easy car to drive and competitive at all tracks. For Group 3, you should buy 991 RSR, which works everywhere. With these 2 cars, you'll be able to race competitively.

I've also bought the game recently - I'm doing most of the offline before racing online. Are these two cars the go-to quick cars for each group? And do people use different cars for different tracks? I had a weird bit of ying and yang I suppose with the Toyota FT1 race yesterday.
First race I only managed one qualifying lap before starting so was down in 15th of 16. I then proceeded to overdrive it. Made up a few places only to have someone have an enormous tank slapper in front of me that resulted in them veering in front and me punting them off hard as I turned in to a corner. Bloody game gave me a 10s penalty. After tootling about to use that up I just concentrated on getting better on the circuit in that car and minding my own business.
Next race I qualified 6th and had an absolute stormer. Really nice battle with one chap for a lap or so before edging away. Was closing on the leader in the last lap but he'd been out front on his own long enough to get a decent gap. Happy with 2nd though as all 4 places were earned rather than the result of someone binning it in front of me.

The RSR is fast and one of the best cars to drive in the game - though it can be slightly disadvantaged in some of the longer races with fuel consumption on as it's not the best on economy. The BMW M6 is better on fuel, but nowhere near as nice to drive.
There are a few decent grp4 cars depending on the track, but the M4 is a good all rounder and competitive everywhere.
Unless you're right at the sharp end of the qualifying times, and can run fast AND consistent laps throughout a whole race (ie; no self inflicted mistakes), you'll be good to go in these cars in any event... skills and race craft are far more important to your finishing position for the most part as people are very inconsistent in the lower DR divisions.
I had a really good race last night in the Brands 10 lapper, going from 11th to 3rd but some guy called me out as a "Stupid ****" in the chat because I defended my position (one move per corner). Still it was fun as he was much faster than me but I kept him behind for the last two laps.
It was my second Sport race with djdest. The only PNS friend I have seen in sport mode so far.

Brands is a difficult track to overtake on... only really safe place is in to Druids. Can be done in to Graham Hill and Surtees, but you need a much better exit form the previous corner to set these up.
People trying to overtake on the back half of the track are generally idiots.
Oh yes. Pisses me off hugely.People trying to overtake on the back half of the track are generally idiots.
Allaloneatron, that was I was in last night with you, I got punted off bigtime on the 2nd corner of the first lap, I never got the chance to really make any ground after that.
I did the race again after and went from 14th to 6th simply by being consistant and putting pressure on people in front of me as I caught them up. Its a good track to biding your time and letting people fall off!
Re the comment above about hanging about to use up a time penalty, don't!
This is a double edged sword, both to your advantage.
By just racing on you will soon realise there are corners that will eat up the penatly, this is because you are not taking them as fast as you could do. IE, you may be coasting rather than being on the power. Tight corners are best for this.
So on one hand you get rid of the penalty without trying or slowing down, and then other gain is that it helps teach you where you could be quicker!
If you have a few laps left its very easy to get rid of a 5-10 second penalty, obviously if its close to the end you have the choice of lifting off or taking the hit at the end where it rounds it up.
If I'm going to lose a lot of places by lifting I'll take the hit, but if its clear behind me I'll get rid of the time as much as I can without losing a place

Agreed, I'm not quick enough for cars suited to specific tracks be of any use - the limit won't be the car, it'll be my talent . Another oldskool livery, I'm surprised I hadn't seen it done already!
It took literally under 10 minutes start to finish, including making the spiral decal.
Someone else had already made the BASF logo.
I can share the spiral if anyone else wants to use it on something, I think the RSR would look good!

So far I have to admit I find the online side of the game just a horrendous trawl.
Endless rammers and cretins who cant drive and will do anything to pass you, and then crash in front of you meaning you usually hit them and get penalized
I would rather see the whole thing ghosted to be honest, the rating system is a complete nonsense.
HAve been CC for days now despite racing a few times every day and the vast majority of incidents I ahve had have been caused by other people, not me being forceful
