thx Daiblos

Rex218 & darkdice have kindly offered to host thumbup (if anyone else wants to offer to split the load that'd be handy)

best if everyone has at least these guys added as friends so that you can enter easily through their private lounge. Go to your community section, click on their avatar and scroll down to lounge (coffee cup) there should be a yellow symbol next to the coffee cup, click on that to join room/track.

your BB speed is pretty good guys so if one of you argue could get a private room up and ready for latest 8.30 tomorrow that'd be trumps!
if you could post here as to which of you it's going to be that'd be cool

High speed ring? nice and wide with easy overtake opportunities for people to get used to 16 players, but open to other suggestions??
Sports Soft max
Min damage to start, maybe try max damage for 2nd race?
333hp per ton, so open kg & hp
ABS only as an aid
(usual really)

Dont worry if you've not chosen your final car yet, this is only a shakedown before next weeks start, but if we could get car choices finalised by end of next week it would be good, it gives me time to add them to the final draft of the Championship and post at the beginning of this thread.

Here's to some good, clean non 1st corner lunging racing biggrindriving

Must have spent about 6 hours searching the dealerships, buying, tuning and tracking about 15 different cars. Had 2 all ready to go then a tasty little number popped up in the classifieds and has put a spanner in the works.

I have 1 car which fits in the 400bhp 1200kg category but handles like a pig :-(
part of the fun eh biggrin

many of the cars I tried were nasty, just understeered everywhere, then I found out I was adjusting the differential the wrong way banghead

I thought increasing the slider bar on acceleration and deceleration would make both more aggressive and create more oversteer when on or off the throttle but it's actually the other way round silly

now some of the cars I ruled out are turning in ok with plenty of lift off oversteer and power out with a nice controllable slide.

have you tried the Lotus Esprit?

thta's ste Ian, hope you get it sorted asap, how old is your PS?

noticed an error in the entrants list to, seems someone entered the no.16 twice so although it looked like there were 16 of us there are in fact 17, will look back through......

Little issue...

I tune a car so that it is within regs but after a few practise laps the power increases slightly so I'm over the threshold very slightly.

Is that acceptable?
i think so, if it really bothers you then use the std or sport air filter to tune it down in small increments smile (assuming you've used racing filter in the 1st place)

As far as we have been racing in the 400/1200 and 333bhp/tonne regs it's simply no race aero from the Auto GT place, so no additional front spoilers, no side aero and no adjustable rear wings.

Other than the racing softs you can put any other mod from the tuning section as long as it stays within the 333bhp per tonne bracket.

Daz4m - I hope nobody is planning using the GTR for the championship, it's a lot faster round pretty much any track than the other cars we have been using. It hides it weight so well.

TBH I've done all the M3's so much now and there's little difference between them all, Quattro 44 is damn quick in a normal M3, I can get a CSL quicker round the ring over the GTR and the setup I'm using transfers onto all three variants of the M3 very well. In additon the min weight of the GTR is 1277kgs, the normal M3 is 1234kgs and the CSL is 1208 kgs so there's not that much in them.

Edited by Evo on Sunday 9th January 18:48
Could some confirm this, is it super softs only or is this (in bold) the rule ie racing meds is okay?
arn't we running Sports softs?
yes, when the rooms not chuckin us out frown seems your out to Y2?

good clean racing tonight guys a couple thumbup

some points on the evening though.

the last room set up was by far the most stable for everyone from what I could see.

we definitely need a private room set up for next week, no non PH crowd will walk in then, plus the private rooms seem to be more stable.

opinions on damage? I'm not a fan of FULL damage tbo.

I'm not into RWD only either.

Norbury90 pitting on the Nurbergring and then blasting through the field on lap 2 was excellent.
It wasn't just me, somebody else (PVA maybe?) had a similar race to me. I think having tyres which were a lap fresher helped a fair bit, along with half of you lot hobbling round with punctures and destroyed engines!

I know what you mean about pressuring someone into a mistake, I had a great race with Flip on Trial Mountain where I had to just follow him round as I couldn't quite get through, he ended up getting a slide on on the final lap and I was so close behind, I couldn't get out of his way in time and thumped him on the corner... sorry about that mate!

I reckon weak penalties and light mechanical damage would be the way to go. Will tweak my Audi over the week to see if I can eke a bit more speed out of it.
was me, I was chasing big_sleep, managing to stay with him (your quick there Big) to make a big pass on the straight when we got there (that was the strategy)

I then clipped the grass at schwedenkreuz (swedish cross, I think) resulting in a barrier moment which left the car going left and right, impossible to keep straight, was just in the middle of taming it when you came up on me Norbury.

I tried to keep out the way but the inevitable happened frown I think you got away with that one with no damage as you came up on me again quite quickly, this time I moved right over to the barrier but you lost it going into the corner, think this is where you damaged your engine severely?

now it was weird because your handling was not to shot but you were very slow from engine damage, so we spent the rest of the lap passing and re-passing each other as damaged cars, made me laugh hearing your commentary hehe

nearly everyone passed us before we managed to get to pits, of which i missed the entrance and had to reverse, think you noticed that hehe

once fixed we both worked our way back through the field, me in front there was always a car between us & it was great watching you pass the people behind me that I'd just passed, kept me on my toes, think I got back up to 3rd or 4th by the end.

Weird, not a fan of the full damage but it was great fun pitting and then climbing through the field again scratchchin

I actually never got to race in the first two proper test sessions R1 (High speed ring) I got disconnected just as race was started, R2 had black screen at start, could hear you all go off then after about a 1min of the black screen I appeared on the grid in 1st place (according to my screen), knew I wasn't so set off to see how many I could pass before the race finished and managed to get Vic and someone else.

Not a great start, I think a fair few of us were having probs with being kicked out in the two early races, the later 'private room' sessions saw far fewer people dropping their connection from what I could see.

Quick thanks to Torquenstein for moving over In the Nurbgring race, dont know if you'd seen us in the pits and read the situation but either way I thought it was a very good example of how we 'can' race thumbup

seems quite 50/50 on the damage front, maybe a poll is a good idea before next week?

there seemed to be some confusion on the 2 x car idea last night as well, my thought was the 1200 / 400 car would be the optimum choice for most of the tracks as it'd be the quickest, the 2nd car would be for the faster tracks like Nurburgring & Monza.

For this scenario the choice would be 1 x car per week / track, whichever of the two cars doesn't matter but only 1 x car per week / track.

a different suggestion from last night was:

1 x week / track
Race 1 = car - 400 / 1200
Race 2 = car - 333 / per ton

not a bad idea but thought maybe put this to the vote at the same time?

Re the GTR, I'd love to be driving it (for personal reasons) but it has way to much of an advantage to be fair, plus the whole field would end up a one make series which is totally boring, so I'm up for banning it tbo.

actually its probably easier if I just start a poll for the above points.

Just in case people haven't noticed, two of the races in the calendar are wet, so your car choice might be influenced by this, your car choices needs to be in by this friday so we can add them to the final draft of the championship

Is there a definitive list somewhere of the tracks in the order that we're doing them? Also, are we doing 2 races at the same track each Sunday, or two different tracks?

R8 was by far the best handling car I could find and the ONLY car I could better the CSL with.

would love to go with it |(was not going to use the other night for fear of this) but if you're all going to jump on that band wagon then fine, I have now found something equaly as quick and a tad quicker at La Sarthe tongue out

Is anyone up for substituting one of the tracks for a small twistier something? just think it'll help out the 400/1200 cars
