Re the slow grenades and super charges, isn't that just because we're at the lowest level for everything?

They are slow to charge in Destiny 1 if you've only got basic kit too!

Don't think so because INT/STR/DIS is no longer a thing in D2, so you can't change the cooldowns that way. I guess some of the "real" gear might have perks to help, but we don't know yet of course

Lot of people on Reddit have posted similar concerns. Bit crap you only get your super a couple of times in the entire mission I thought and sometimes not at all in a PvP match

PvP "balance" already affecting PvE? I really hope not

Ammo drop rates are off too but that has already been acknowledged and will be adjusted for full release

Fair enough - seems an odd decision to drop the link between your gear and your powers. Takes away a lot of the point of customising your load out?

Also, why does everyone ignore the heavy ammo in PvP?! The rocket launcher has tracking as standard and in either mode is easily capable of a double kill. shoot

Played it for a couple hours last night as a Titan.

There's a lot of good changes, and some that I think will just need getting used to, obviously some stuff is different just so it's different.

It's no better or worse from what I can tell, my only concerns are things that the beta is too shallow to deal with really, the changed gear system is my main worry.

I feel like D1 will feel a bit basic after playing this, everything feels like it's become a bit more flashy, complicated, all the lighting effects are really pumped up and things feel more hectic in PvP. So far the power ammo system feels a little odd but sort of makes sense. Plus you absolutely wreck with a fusion rifle. New Game mode is good but I feel like it will be most effective to just ignore the objective and wipe the team.

Loved it. The new PvP mode is a lot of fun. Bit of a mash-up of search and destroy and ToO which is no bad thing. It needs tweaking though. The TTK was much lower than D1. At times, it felt like your health melted without giving time to react. In that regard, it felt more like CoD. Bungie have always been good at making PvP engaging- rewarding accuracy and recoil-control over who saw the enemy first. Hopefully they will look at this.

As for the strike, it is a lot of fun. The thought that struck me was "where the heck are you supposed to hide if this was a nightfall?" hehe They've clearly adopted an anti-cheese mentality to level design. The drill jumping section was fun and led to some giggles. biggrin The feeling of expanse and depth is there in that level alone.

Thrilled. shoot

Well that was....erm....interesting!

Basically, I never got past the first mission. In fact, I never got past half way through the first mission. I'd get to the bit at the plaza, defend that for a bit and then the game would tell me to go with Ikora so, off I'd go through towards where the speaker hangs out in D1. Past the sweeper bot, through the doors.....and then....nothing. No Ikora, no enemies, doors already open. No matter what I tried, after about 30 seconds or so, it would kick me from the mission and give me the error: Moose.

I tried wiping, I tried all 3 characters, all sub-classes. Tried accepting an invite from someone else to skip the mission, no joy. I tried deleting and re-downloading the Beta (yup, all 12.6gb). Same exact problem. Tried again this morning ,no difference.

Uploaded a clip to YooToob to show the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf7Urz1w1Vg

What I did see of the first mission (at least 20 times) looked very good. It ran extremely smoothly and felt like a graphical upgrade from D1. I didn't much like the new weapon slot system but, that may just be a hangover from being so familiar with the D1 loadouts, time will tell. Grenades and supers recharge rate seemed laughably slow which will probably be great for PvP but, sucks balls for PvE. I did notice at one point, my grenade seemed to go from about 20% charged to full in an instant. Not sure if it was a pickup or a glitch though.

Hopefully it'll be solved by tonight so I can see a bit more of what's on offer.
I had the exact same problem Speck. Will also try again tonight!

We managed a workaround last night. A friend played through the mission on my account using his connection which got me access to the Strike & crucible. Unfortunately, he trolled me and used a Warlock so, that is the only character I can play the Strike with (Damn you Anton hehe)

Unfortunately, whilst playing the Strike with randoms this morning, we got to the point just before you drop down to the final boss and I got the error again. Obviously, because I was with randoms, I couldn't re-join the mission

So frustrating banghead

I am impressed and looking forward the full release and things actually having a reason to complete stuff.

The crucible without No Land Beyond is quite weird after so long.

Anyone found any good deals for the game? I'm mainly interested in the standalone game, I try not to pre-order DLC nowadays.

Haven't seen any advertised. Went with PS store pre-order including the expansion pass this time around and I know that a few D1 regulars / veterans have done the same

For those new to the Destiny franchise, you'll need a PS+ subscription to play quite a lot of the content

Sony has already announced that the price of the annual subscription is rising from £39.99 to £49.99 after 31st August, so if you wait until after D2 launches you'll be paying another tenner

The good news is that there is an offer currently on the Playstation Store where if you buy an annual subscription, you'll get 15 months instead of 12 and all for the current lower price

For existing subscribers, you don't have to wait until your current sub runs out to benefit from this deal. Buy it now and 15 months gets added on to your current sub end date. Mine was due to run out on 20th Sep, but I bought the offer today and now it runs to Dec 2018

Of course, you can buy a smaller subscription if you are unsure, but for those in it for the long run, hopefully this will be useful information

See you all in two weeks biggrin

^^Thanks for the reminder on the PSN subscription. I knew they were planning on increasing the rates but didn't check until now when mine was actually due to expire. Just bought a new one so I'm sorted until Jan '19 smile

I think it is coming from Tesco (we got some multi-buy & clubcard points deal I think), who normally deliver on release day. Mind you, with a midnight release, maybe that'll be different. Either way, I'll be staying at Anton's and getting far drunker than is either necessary or appropriate so, me and my hangover will be seeing you online some time on Wednesday morning thumbup
