Fallout 4 ruined the franchise
Last of Us was overrated rot.
PVP in most games is totally for the best players, NO_ONE else.
Polyphony have basically been making the same game for nearly 20 years. Even to the point of releasing exactly the same cars in game after game.
The truly great games, Half Life, (1 and 2) Skyrim, Fallout 3, Tomb Raider are timeless.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastically detailed graphically, sadly thats where the good news ends. There is no story, its just a collection of repeated "ride your horse to this place, shoot people, ride back to camp" with minor detail variations. There is no link between the missions, no progression in story or characters, they even ran out of ideas for the later bits of the game and resorted to making the player occasionally press a button to advance cut scenes.
There is being reductive and then there is posting something that is just false. Whether or not you like RDR2, there is no denying that it has a story and a developing narrative. It might not be the most high brow of tales, but it's definitely story driven and does tackle some thematic and philosophical concepts by the end. It takes an interesting turn from a rolling-Western into an examination of fatalism and redemption, and whilst it makes no deep inspection of either theme, they're both there.
Even if you're not looking for deep subtext, the entertaining tale of the increasingly disastrous attempts of the gang to get back on an even keel is very entertaining. For a Rockstar open world game, I thought they did a very good job of keeping it on task over what is a really long story.

I went into a random old shack in the middle of the night (in RDR2) yesterday to find evidence of some weird old ritual, skeletons everywhere and stuff. Then a UFO appeared overhead, hovered and then slowly buzzed off after 2 mins.
Awesome
I also got robbed in Saint Denis last week, because I was stupid enough to follow some bloke into an ally on the promise of something or another.
Took $800 off me.

Don't think that's an unpopular opinion.TimmyMallett said:
I haven't played it but even so, I feel the need to berate you.
There is just so much filler and icons on the map. It's a better side mission polished ass creed game, with boobs.I have "Rust" on the Computer - When making some items (For example a silencer for a gun) this can take up to 90 seconds per item!

I think whether you invested in the story depends on how you played it,it doesn't make sense if you just went around shooting everyone for example .I thought it was a fantastic story personally but everyone sees things differently.Whether or not you like RDR2, there is no denying that it has a story and a developing narrative. And look at the thread title

Agreed, I've only strayed into online gaming a few times, but it's only ever been a window into a concentrated version of the worse of human nature. GTA online is a mugs paradise, I can't believe people still sink time (and money) into it 7 years after Launch to buy the latest re-skinned car / gun / bike whatever.
First Person Shooter games are moronic, simple, cheap to make games for ADHD ravaged teens on Red Bull to act our their violent fantasies without ever satisfying their impotent rage. At least Fortnite has the decency to strip away most of the bullst. I'm not against them, they serve an important purpose, before they arrived we gave those kids a Slinky, a Paddle Ball or in extreme circumstances a Drum Kit to try to stop them setting fire to the Village Hall or strangling the neighbours cat and then trying to mate with it.
People who don't like RDR2 skip all the cut scenes and they moan there's no story and that it's too slow. They should have bought COD 65 remastered and a can of Monster, or maybe a Drum Kit.
Gran Turismo is about as exciting as reading the boot capacity of a Vectra in What Car?
Most PC gamers only play one game, Frame Rate Top Trumps with their 'friends' online. Real gamers have consoles.
4K is the Emperor's new clothes. 4K won't make a bad Film good and HD won't make a good Film bad. Games are exactly the same, unless you only 'play' with a load of over-laid graphic stats to impress your 'friends' online - see above.

FIFA is a terrible football game.
Gran Turismo went downhill after the 5th game (although I have been enjoying GTSport a bit recently)

I remember we could only get 4Mbps at the time and it took DAYS to download.

Disagree entirely.Whether or not you like RDR2, there is no denying that it has a story and a developing narrative.
The little clan your character is in moves from one spot to another "gonna make it big" and all the other bullst the leader guy comes out with, they have a few skirmishes and then move on having not won or lost. Character catches TB and dies, other bloke in the clan turns out to be a stbag.
There is loads of other stuff in the game like hunting specific animals and all the crafting, upgrading of the camp, random encounters that are 100% pointless. They missed a trick by not weaving that in to the game properly. Some are there purely to drag out the game, like allowing the horse to rest or the "press a button" to stagger along the beach, or to build a house at the end for example.
If each chapter had some sort of point to it that would at least be something - for example when you're in St Denis meeting the posh folk and then get aboard the paddle steamer - having been accepted and gained people's trust they could have then robbed it and made their escape. Instead its just a random set of encounters with various organisaitons or gangs that never increase in intensity or importance,

The Last of Us is overrated crap. When you put cinematics and storytelling before gameplay, at least have good characters and a decent plot. A dull, uninteresting trudge through dreary landscapes with little to show for it.
Agree with this completely, I thought I was the only one who felt this way. However, I actually played the second one as I was intrigued after the backlash it received. I actually think Part 2 is a very good game and my game of the year so far.
Resident Evil 7 is a good game, it just doesn't feel like a Resident Evil game
Playing something on the hardest difficulty does not make you any more of a "real" gamer than playing it on the easiest.
Female characters are often more fun to play as
The length of your game or the size of its map does not equate to its quality.
There are very few honest game journalists, and most of them hate their audience
