All good points and i'm far from sure it's worth it either. I have a couple of epic variants already as i opened the first few drops that i got. I've given consideration to opening them purely to stock up on XP bonuses.The reasons that, in balance, i decided to keep them were:
1. Your social score, which is known to effect the likelihood of getting the best drops, will in part be effected by having people watching you open them in the Headquarters and, as it stands, mine is still empty.
2. As mentioned, my understanding is that whole new guns are on the way. Some bloke posted up a YouTube video showing them a couple of days ago and I've seen others discussing them since. I'll have to have another look into it as i could very well be mistaken.
3. If i'm wrong about the above, or decide i want the XP bonuses, i can change my mind in a heartbeat and splash out. But once they're gone they're gone (I'll be damned if i'm going to actually buy them).
First time on for a week and what the hell has happened to the HQ. Its a mess with too many players all in a small place. I play with a fairly active group off friends and even though the HQ only had us in lot in it, it was far better than it is now.
Destiny has the same social space but its so big it's not crowded. Any way i'm enjoying the game.

Rarely play TDM but to get some bonuses I just cleared the shovel and TDM challenges in a single match.
Flanked the enemy team and wiped the whole lot out with just my shovel. I LOL’d, not sure they did!

Sadly social Score don't actually help with better drops. Someone on utube opened 100 cases (he was social score 8) and then opened 100 more on a new account ( it had no games played and had 0 social score at all) and it didn't make any difference really.
Thanks for clarifying. I was unlikely to ever get much of a social score so that's fine by me. Played a shedload of Kill Confirmed on Sunday. Did wonders for my win/loss ratio as i won maybe 18 out of 20. Never ceases to amaze me how few tags some people collect, not from a 'they're not playing the objective' point of view, but rather because collecting tags can get you your streaks really easily.
Think I've settled on Mountain as my preferred division. You get near-permanent counter-UAV (i rarely stand still) alongside silent footsteps, which in a game where people sound like they're running round in clogs made out of iron is very handy (or should that be sneaky). Combined with a PPSh with extended mags and steady aim and it makes for a very effective CQB class.

Finally put down down GT Sport to give this a try, I'm really enjoying it. The first COD since MW3 I've enjoyed! Mainly playing the campaign, its challenging which I like (that, or i'm guff after years of not playing COD) Ventured online last night and got my arse handed to me, still enjoyable though. Will need to make sure i'm online on Christmas day to hoover up the newbies getting it for Christmas lol
You will be pleased to know they haven't fixed this in the latest patch and heres hoping they never do 
You do the sit emote and just before your arse hits the ground you press crouch and move forward at the same time. Takes a few attempts to get the timing down. You can also do it with jumping jacks.
Can't wait for xmas noob fest. Hoping to get my KDR above 1.5 over xmas currently sitting at 1.1

Play war to get some XP built up. Doesn't count to you KDR and gives you a good idea of the some of the guns. The BAR and FG-42 are bordering on OP. Can't wait for xmas noob fest. Hoping to get my KDR above 1.5 over xmas currently sitting at 1.1

Can't say i find the BAR to be particularly great post-nerf.It's well worth prestiging the Mountain division for the KAR 98k. I was a fan of the Lee Enfield originally, but it started to feel like a hit marker machine. The KAR has very similar handing but with very few, if any, hit markers. You can use an iron sight too, but i haven't unlocked that yet to be able to give it a go.
Looking forward to the winter event that kicks off today.

Yeah the winter event looks pretty good and gun game is back on the playlist
I wasn't allowed to buy it as my mother in law is buying it for Christmas. Really looking forward to it

However I won't play online for a few weeks because I'm well aware of this ^^ from my MW2 days I like the way they've set up the Winter Siege event. Giving you a couple of ways of getting the new guns and almost guaranteeing that you'll be able to get at least one you want seems pretty reasonable.
For my own part, i opened the 50-60 supply drops i'd saved up and got 2 heroic guns, which didn't seem like a particularly good drop rate for the top items.
I got the pick axe special order on Saturday, so had to play 35 matches to get it. At the same time i completed the weekly's of 250 kills using the infantry division on one of the winter maps and then 250 kills using armoured on one of the winter aps, which i misunderstood as having to play on Carentan. So Carenthan it was, 35 times in a row. On the upside, you get to play a variety of game modes. But i'm not a fan of Carentan itself. There are so many windows that you can typically be picked off from six different directions at any given moment. Still, at least it was double XP all the way.
In the supply drops i got from those games i get two more heroic weapons, and the Epic version of the new rifle the Gewehr 43. It's another semi-auto rifle and a low damage one (3 shots to kill) at that, so not my sort of weapon. Works well in Hard Core though. At least I won't even have to consider playing 50 matches for it. The only gun remaining that i'd like from Winter Siege is the Sten, which i think was available as a special order on Friday but i missed it. I think they're on rotation throughout the event though, so hopefully i'll get it when it next becomes available.

Rumours are the DLC map pack will be based in Europe. Toujane was a good map though but a bit of a camp fest. Never you mind said:

I used to play those 24/7 Toujane S&D bolt action rifles only lobbies on PC for hours. Not much camping going on when it’s 12 v 12! Oh the memories...Back on topic, I’m loving WWII, just unlocked the FG42 after hearing great things about it so we’ll see how that goes.

As i understand it, there's no luck to it as you don't need to get it from a supply drop. It should come back as a special order again, at which point you can accept the order and once you've played 50 multiplayer matches you'll have it. To the best of my knowledge the orders aren't time limited (unlike contracts), so even if it takes you weeks to play 50 matches you'll get it eventually. tty luck with supply drops so I'll probably never get it. IIRC, the special order rotation to date has been:
Friday - Sten
Saturday- Ice pick
Sunday - Gewehr
Monday - Trench knife
Tuesday - GPMG
That's all 5 of the DLC weapons, so i'm hoping to pick up the Sten special order tonight.
My luck with drops last night wasn't the best. Two winter supply drops had nothing and one standard had an epic P.E. kit, but it wasn't part of a collection so not worth much.
