The aim is to summon tonnes of people and close in on his position. He stops firing arrows after one of the summons gets into hand to hand combat with him. So in terms of the arrow situation...

His routine is to initially shoot a fast arrow directly at you a few times as you close distance. Just ignore everything bar him and press roll a moment before the arrow hits you. You could use the piles to hide behind but it's an easy dodge once you time it. Summon the first group of helpers then dodge the next straight arrow and summon the second set. Keep pressing fwd and when you see his stance change he is going to fire arrows upward to rain on you. Get on the horse and ride left as fast as possible. You learn the length of the arrow rain attack, near the end of that attack circle back right towards the original position you started riding the horse. There will be another single summon. His next couple of attacks are the blunderbus multi arrow straught attack that is easily dealt with if you block. Summon the third set (one) and then press on straight towards him on the horse. By now a summon will nearly have got into hand to hand with him and he should only have attempted maybe another couple of basic straight arrow or blunderbus attacks after your final summon.

The rest of the fight is over to you but that's how to dodge his arrows. Use the shield to dodge the multi blunderbus straight arrow attack he also does. The shield can hack that fine as its not powerful when only one of them hits you and you are prepared and blocking.

I’m doing a whole load of ‘Nope, not today massive beast who can crush me in one blow’. Need to level up and get some more confidence.

I tried to find that Wolf man ontop of the tower but he isn't there. It says I need to click my fingers I tried but nothing. Untill then I had ever used a gesture so I'm stumped

I fought myself last night

The Mimic Tear that copies your character, even down to the weapons, which mean it was also using the slash, jump and warp tricks of Bloodhound's Fang, I was tough

I arrived at that fight quite OP as I had missed that entire area initially. Just opening up the manor and then heading off again.

The weapon that you are given for that fight can be upgraded and even though I could see how to win the fight, I +10 the weapon just for fun with some spare kit I had laying around. Made it even easier

You now need to go back to the mechant at the church of Ellah and get the finger snap gesture once you ask him about Blaidd. Then go back and snap them. You may have to look around the ruins for a minute but you will find him.

I was probably the easiest boss in the game.

Get naked and unequip all weapons. The. Once fight starts equip your weapon and destroy yourself.

I have an odd relationship with this game. I dislike the lack of narrative, character development and quests _ I know it’s steeped in ‘lore’, but it’s not a patch on Witcher 3 for me, or Last of Us. But still….even though 85% of the time I’m tearing my hair out on frustration…when I’m not playing it I’m often thinking about it. It feels like an unhealthy addiction. I’m largely a FromSoftware newb (I gave up Bloodbourne v early) and it feels like the video game equivalent of crack. Just one more go….

I admit the satisfaction of finally beating Magrit was pretty immune. Of course, now im stuck on Godrick with a melee build and getting toasted every time.

I’ve rune farmed the ball rune sooooo many times to build up endurance and strength and now vigour. But that killing the giant chicken with arrows rune farm….is it possible to get to that phase at my stage of the game (Stormveil Castle)? I so need to level up more!

ps appreciating the replies on here, especially Steven who is bringing it to life.

My first soulsborne game was bloodborne. So I was all attack and no shield from the outset. I carried that through to Dark Souls and just upgraded strength and dex and was a shieldless double handed glass cannon. So I salute your style :-)

Just so I know what are the entry requirements to appreciate the game? How many hours do I have to put in before I'm qualified to give an opinion?
Looking back at this - how are you feeling now you are right into the game?

Honestly I'm not enjoying it I'm just persevering with it I have no interest in the characters really (unlike Witcher) I still have no idea what the letters really mean on the weapons or what the skills really impact. I haven't crafted anything yet either I don't understand the armour values. I have no idea what quests I'm supposed to be doing. It annoys me that I can be doing a quest and it be reletivly easy then you come across someone you really can't kill (some fat guy on a bridge at the upside down place) so you have to go find something else to do but since you don't have active quests I'm just aimlessly walking around not remembering what dungeons I've 'cleared' as it doesn't tell you. I've not used ashes of war either.

Also not used any items ive collected other than some knives and icicles that you can throw

This sounds filled with pain :-). You aren't supposed to like the characters in any traditional way. i have played the game as a gaming challenge through for 110 hours and really, I have no idea what was going on. I then watch a lore video on youtube and try and put it all together. My ability to follow quests suck too. So if I am not working it out I check out a link on reddit that explains it. The game is designed to be attempted solo but supported by the community as no one person in isolation could ever work it all out.

Weapon scaling. So if it has a letter next to strength that means the attack the weapon does will get greater the greater your strength. How many extra hit points are added to the weapons attack with each level in strength is determined by the letter. "The order from best to worst is S, A, B, C, D, and E. So, if you have a really high Strength, having a Dexterity B and Strength D weapon is not the best idea."

If you mean the tower that you turn the interior upside down? Then I don't recall a fat guy on a bridge. There is a witch you are fighting and u get invaded by a blue spirit iirc But maybe I am not aware of exactly where you are. Grab the name of the grace location that you start at and I'll see if I can assist. If you are losing interest then take a break or get some coop help or get some guidance from the community. Whatever question you currently have will indeed 100% have been asked and addressed already, I also had a massive inventory full of stuff and hardly used any of it. I did get a really good spirit summons and used this to support me through boss fights as I am loathe to request coop help either from NPC or player.

Persevere until you hit something you cannot get past then fall back on respec. I had a Dex and strength build and used the colossal ghiza wheel. Loved that beauty. Just a little slow in some situations.

I've started new game 2 using my levelled character (you can do this at the roundtable after you have gone so far in the game). Since I unexpectedly did more than I wanted too early, amongst which I killed Fia, because she was so annoying which I shouldn't do as it blocks one of the achievements. When you restart you keep everything except quest things and you keep the map you discovered but without grace sites.

Maybe it's just not for you. Some people just enjoy simpler games that lead you along by the hand. There's no shame in it.
