simple install, unpack the zip/rar file and put the track folder into the contents/tracks folder in Assetto Corsa.

I'm still not sure about this sim.
It's getting better but there are still lots of really frustrating things about it.
No manual/search at the menu or obvious keyboard shortcuts etc.
Automatic cars are still stalling when you select 1st gear, or rev flaring if you shift down with full throttle. Or allowing over-revving and blowing engines up!
Steering effects are still a joke. AC Cobra with locked wheels vibrates like it's driving over huge rumble strips/kerbs. I just used the automatic wheel set up but left everything else standard. Is this how it's meant to feel?
Surely THEY know that this isn't real, and surely THEY know what is correct feeling or not, and should set values as default. The way a real car feels isn't a user-definable option... so expecting me to change values in FF set up is bonkers... at least to get a half decent feeling default.
The default should be nice and how the makers want it, then if you want to change it that is up to you.
Feeling crap out of the box is not good.
Apart from that it's feeling pretty nice really. You can tell there is real substance to the physics underneath, it's just hidden behind crappy FF and UI and things.
My only other gripe that I hope will be worked out with time and development, is a feeling of everything being a bit static and wooden. I hope tracks really start to come to life and stop feeling like you're in the film The Langoliers

Link for the Mk2 Escort is dead. I've been hoping it will come back as I never got a chance to grab it. Can't seem to find it anywhere else!Trento-Bondone is the Hillclimb.

Actually I found it in the end.
Not tested yet but like you say, prob needs the sound worked on! Cheers!
There are a few cars that might be worth downloading here. Take a look at the Youtube link and then in all his related videos there are download links to the cars

Likewise with this chaps channel. Mostly F1 tracks

The more I play the more I feel its a good driving simulator but a poor racing simulator. AI are still all over the place, they sometimes slam on the brakes before entering Eau Rouge if other cars are around them. Basic features like flag rules, jump starts (cant even select first gear in a sequential car until the lights go out), lame fade to black after crossing the finish line, no pit limiter, pit strategies or pit stops at all in single player. GTR2 still does race weekends better than any other game or sim I've played.
AC may have reached release candidate but its till needs a lot of stuff added and worked on.

That's it.
Having been exposed to this game so early on it's easy to be underwhelmed by the incomplete nature.
But it's now over-due by a long way, and it still feels like a LOT of important stuff is missing.
Had this game come out and hit the shelves looking mostly like it does now it'd not do well at all. Only the promise of more and the sustained cash influx is what is carrying it right now imo... and that could all dry up tomorrow once people have paid their money and got a 'final' version.
It still feels like something that is a year away from being finished to me. Personally I don't care about the content count, I care about the polish of the game as a whole.
Not one car or track in AC feels properly finished. They all have bits missing, or wrong features, or bugs, or just feel incomplete.
Even the UI is a bit iffy still. A year ago I forgave it, but it still feels like it did 12 months ago. Why no dedicated UI designer? It looks to have had about 1 weeks work.
Perhaps the first release is just the start of what AC will eventually become... but then again maybe it won't be. There have been many many more games that just get shipped and forgotten, than ones that are supported for many years and really improved upon.

Just playing the supercar race there, I have to say that's the most astonishing accurate representation of the Ferrari 430 I've ever seen; everything feels like it did in real life. Really light front end, throttle steer is the key. Through my G25 you could feel everything the car was doing.
I'm really, really impressed with the dynamics on offer here. The 'game' itself is a little patchy, but the driving is second to none.
Even if it did just trigger a CPU temp warning just now...
