I’ve only ever done one MP match.

I tend to only play zombies. Level 31 is my highest so far.
The biggest annoyance is when people don’t do the tasks and you can’t get to the good guns frown

Anyone else playing, if so feel free to add me GT:UnluckyTimmeh

I fancy the sten but I always get stty luck with supply drops so I'll probably never get it.
As i understand it, there's no luck to it as you don't need to get it from a supply drop. It should come back as a special order again, at which point you can accept the order and once you've played 50 multiplayer matches you'll have it. To the best of my knowledge the orders aren't time limited (unlike contracts), so even if it takes you weeks to play 50 matches you'll get it eventually.

IIRC, the special order rotation to date has been:

Friday - Sten
Saturday- Ice pick
Sunday - Gewehr
Monday - Trench knife
Tuesday - GPMG

That's all 5 of the DLC weapons, so i'm hoping to pick up the Sten special order tonight.

My luck with drops last night wasn't the best. Two winter supply drops had nothing and one standard had an epic P.E. kit, but it wasn't part of a collection so not worth much.
Dam it. Won't get back home till Friday night and don't think the wife will best pleased if I jump on the xbox as soon as I get through the door. Mind you if I only have to accept the contract and have unlimited time .... scratchchin

I used to play those 24/7 Toujane S&D bolt action rifles only lobbies on PC for hours. Not much camping going on when it’s 12 v 12! Oh the memories...

Back on topic, I’m loving WWII, just unlocked the FG42 after hearing great things about it so we’ll see how that goes.
The FG42 is amazing. Great sights so no need for a reflex, high damage output, low spread on ADS and relatively little damage fall-off over distance. I use it with the extended magazine, which addresses it's one main failing.

Felt the fg42 needed a few attachments to be viable. Good fun though. One of my favs along with the Lewis, mp40 and bar, at the moment.

Got the svt 40 grind coming this weekend. Easily the worst gun in game any tips? Shotguns after that. Oh the joy!

Anyone up for partying up this weekend? Free most of Saturday. VBRJ clan tag.

Just like to add I have not had any of the problems widely reported with this game. It’s been spot on for the majority of the time

Only suggestion i would make is that if you're grinding for camo's, then HC is your friend as it becomes a one hit kill machine.

My prophecy about the special order rotation as posted above was correct and the Sten became available again last night, so I picked up that special order. Only 47 more matches to play...

Given how much longer the event has to run, it should become available a few more times.

Been enjoying the Grease Gun lately. I've got a fun looking variant that's rusty and the gun barrel is trumpet shaped. The iron sights are poor so I need to use a reflex, but other than that the low recoil makes it the easiest sub to handle. I'd say the PPSH is better, but i'm always up for variation.

Got the epic version of the grease gun. Not really used it yet as I am grinding camos. Had a few goes in war with it. Melted when you storm the bunkers with it.

HC domination for the weekend with maybe a bit of SnD chucked in. Prefer the objective modes, just wish you got more xp for playing the objective.

Had a couple of goes at gun game but didn't place in the top 3. I got a winter supply drop at random at the end of a game and after a string of pretty rubbish drops this one contained...

... the heroic GPMG. Can't complain about that. So a week into the event this is what it looks like for me:

Ice pick - Already completed all 35 matches so have got it
Trench knife - Not got it. Not bothered about it but i'll pick up the special order if time allows
Sten - Completed 25 of the 50 matches to get it
Gewehr - Dropped the epic version
GPMG - Dropped the heroic version

So not too bad at all! I'll certainly get everything i actually want. The GPMG has the best reload animation i've seen in any CoD. But fundamentally it plays as an assault rifle with a super slow reload time. It's well summarised here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m66KZPzggg

Another Xmas noob here. I'm enjoying the game although I'm still at the stage of building up my classes as I rank up so my weapons are a bit weak compared to a lot of people I come up against. Best I've managed is only 21 kills to 13 deaths. I'm in negative KD most of the time and I've had some shocking games (normally sniper maps). Think I did 3 kills to about 15 deaths on that one with the huge train. Starting to have some better games now that my grease gun has some attachments. I'll get more into it when I learn the maps better too. It's a return to form after all the jump suits and laser weapon incarnations of late.

Also got this for Xmas

Agree it is a return to form, but still not as polished an experience of the old days.

I only play HC or zombies, you can keep your standard mode (the children zone!). Unlocked the GPMG the other day, love it.

If anyone else is on PS4 I'm Chris_rx7

Use the BAR with 4 x Optic or the MG15 which has the best iron sights (You should have at least one unlock token) and you'll get better quicker. Play WAR as well, doesn't effect your KD plus you rank up quicker if you play the objective. Top Tip, take smoke grenades when attacking anything!

I've mostly been using the shovel as it's soo much fun.

I just unlocked the BAR, I really like it although reloading takes an age.

I enjoy hardpoint, but if you've a few people playing it like a team deathmatch it can be hard to hold points

For anybody new to the game, the top tips i would recommend are:

1. Prestige the Mountain division; and
2. Prestige the Armored division.

The former gives you access to the KAR98k, which is the most popular sniper in the game. If you're a seriously good sniper the Lee Enfield is probably better due to the larger magazine and faster reloads for the quickscopers out there. I like to think i take a more, errmmmm, 'considered' approach to sniping, so the high damage and good handling make the KAR98k best sniper by far. Unfortunately when you prestige the division you temporarily lose access to its tier 4 perk, silent footsteps, which in my opinion is the most useful perk in all of the divisions.

As for prestiging the Armored division, it unlocks the 'Hunker' perk. Hunker makes you near-invincible to a single grenade and you're much less likely to die to s-mines (i.e. claymores). In the early days of WWII everyone was using the 'Primed' perk, whose purpose was to give you an additional primary weapon attachment slot, with the secondary benefit of reduced flinch. As it was, everyone used it for the reduced flinch and would have used it even without the extra attachment slot as you were at such a disadvantage otherwise. So Sledgehammer nerfed the flinch reduction and now the perk you tend to see people running more often than not is Hunker. If you play objective modes, in particular Hardpoint, or if you play War, it's very handy as both modes turn into grenade hell when you're playing the objective.

Note that i'm by no means a gaming God, just passing on my overall impression and what you tend to see top-tier players using.

For anybody new to the game, you're going to have to explain 'prestige' as a verb.

I had in mind new to the game, rather than new to the entire CoD series. But now i think about it, what else would you call it?

Aha! Well to anyone entirely new to the series, many moons ago with the first of the modern CoDs, which was CoD 4 Modern Warfare, they introduced a leveling up system whereby there were 55 levels. As is not uncommon with computer games, you had to level up to unlock guns, perks (abilities) and what not. Once you reached level 55 you could enter the first 'prestige'. The idea was that, in terms of leveling up, you would be reset to level 0 and everything would be re-locked. In compensation you would get a unique emblem / title (think badge) showing that you had reset yourself to level 0. Given that this process of resetting to level 0 was entering the first prestige it has been called 'prestiging' ever since. The basic idea has been adopted across the board in Cod for a long time i.e. reset something to level 0 and get a bonus of some sort.

CoD WWII pushes the prestige idea further than other games as you can prestige 3 different things:

1. Your overall character, which as per the above resets which guns you have access to. FWIW, I'm prestige 2 level 45;
2. Divisions. This is entirely new to WWII and is a great addition imo. Each division has its own unique abilities, which are only fully unlocked when you've reached the 4th tier of the division. Each division can be prestiged 4 times and for each respective prestige upgrade you get:

Level 1: New gun. SWEET!. New basic training (esp. for Mountain and Airbourne imo).
Level 2: New title. Who cares? a dud prestige imo.
Level 3: New Epic camo, I've only got to prestige 3 with Mountain division. The new epic fighting pajamas were worse than those i already had. Might be different for other divisions.
Level 4: New epic variant of the gun unlocked at Prestige 1. Worth it for that alone. In addition the division badge at the class select screen finally upgrades to the correct colour version, whereas Div 1 is bronze, Div 2 is silver and, unsurprisingly ,div 3 is gold.

3. Each gun can be prestiged twice. As has been pointed out by another poster above, the first prestige allows you to add a clan emblem to the gun if you have one. The second prestige allows you to add a kill counter. Neither is particularly visible most of the time, which is a shame.

Here's hoping that helps someone.

How do you 'level up'?

ETA. What's Mountain? What's Airborne? What's Clan?

The are divisions, or classes where you pick stuff you want to use to shoot/explode/tt with a shovel, other players.

Mountain - Sniper
Airbourne - SMG
Infantry - Assault rifles
Armoured - LMGs - DO NOT PRESTIGE THESE EVER.
Expeditionary - fk knows but default seems to be a shotgun that makes people burn to death, which is nice.

All can carry shovels as secondary weapons to those listed, which is the best fun ever

All have their own natty little outfits.

CLAN = What you and your mates call your collective selfs. Like a gang really.

Level up by shooting other players or by ttting them with a shovel.

Did I mention something about using a shovel? If not, use a shovel, its great fun.
