Well after all this time I'm finally sold. Purchased the PMDG 737-600 and it's totally superb just finished a flight from Doncaster to Edinburgh.

My problem was thinking the default aircraft were crap well not thinking they are crap. Little Cessnas are OK but that's it. Not enjoyed a Flight Simulator flight as much since my old Dreamfleet 737-400 days.
Some useful upgrades to look at

Doncaster has been released by a developer.
GSX gives ground loading.
Pro ATC/sr gives decent ATC unless you go down the vatsim route.

Thanks I’ll look at those I was holding out for a Donny from one of the larger devs Gary Summers did a good one I have it for P3D is this one any good ?

Very interested in that atc check it out today.
It’s pretty good. Couple of doors in the wrong place.

I think it will be a while before uk2000 get there..
Agreed I’ll grab Donny
Need to think about that now. In time they will stop publishing the nav data.

I'm not sure on where to relocate to!
Netherthorpe ? biggrin Go biz jets out of Gamston ?
your 737 won't thankyou! smile
First flew out if East Mids on a British Midland Viscount so that would be my choice always had a soft spot for it.

Just bought this last night, its brilliant.

Now I am not an expert, or even much good but the default airliners are pretty poor. When you are trying to learn its really difficult when the systems dont behave or react as per the tutorials, the AP seems to have a mind of its own and the FMC doesnt seem to bear any relation.

So, thought would give this a go for £32, flew from Vegas to SF last night, landing wasnt pretty but the journey there made sense, now feel like I can move forward, the Cessnas like you say are very good as standard but who wants to fly a Cessna if its not real ? I just want to know how to operate a 100 ton airliner. Ok, the Cessnas are good for flying round looking at stuff, bu for me, Airliners are where its at, strangely unmoved by Fast Jets in the sim though.

The visuals are utterly amazing, go to the external view and it looks pretty much real, the sounds are better than default as well.

DLSS seems to have helped, getting 50 ish FPS on my 2060 Super which is quite an old card, am on a 34 inch widescreen monitor plus another two, one for maps and one for gauges using air manager.

Aim is to fully learn the systems inc FMC, ILS Landings, IFR etc and have some geeky fun.

Dont know why I held off, its not much money and it transforms the experience.
Excellent biggrin Yes its a learning curve especially if you have not flown any heavy metal for some years. I watched some tutorials on YouTube but used my own routes really helped me get back into the swing of things.

edit to say ... And if you haven't already grab LittleNavMap

Littlenavmap is awesome but when you want all the approach plates and upcoming VFR charts plus moving maps in one app that links to the game, navigraph https://navigraph.com/ isn’t free but also worth getting.
I had to sign up with navigraph to use LittleNavMap they must have some kind of agreement free though. Can you remember the planning app on FS2004 that was great ? Names slipped my mind. FS something or other ..

Interesting I’ve been waiting for the JustFlight traffic simply because it took me about 2 days to install aig for P3D and I couldn’t be bothered to do it again.

Now I’m spending a bit more time with FS one thing I’ve noticed is the ground assets. People and vehicles just seem to go wherever they want active taxiways, into my aircraft into buildings into each other.

Just going to look at GSX is it ? Will this improve things or is it a case of having to wait for the core logic to be addressed in a patch ?

To a degree. I keep crash detection firmly off! No fan of a random fire engine driving into my plane.

GSX loads passengers either from the bridge, by bus or by foot. You can download a profile for instance for Doncaster which means they walk up to the plane then up the stairs. It will load fuel and baggage, and do a proper pushback. You can even see the passengers moving along the aisle as they deboard etc

I don’t think it replace other sim features though.

Since I got pro ATC working the planes crashing into me seem less of a thing. From memory it’s an expensive program though - I had an upgrade price from the previous version
It does dampen the immersion a bit but how I’m flying isnt ultra realistic now anyway . I did enjoy starting number 2 earlier with one of the ramp guys stood right next to it. I really, really wanted to see if he ‘blended’ ….

It's a flight simulator. The people on the ground may not behave as expected but it doesn't detract from the experience.
Thanks for that

Spent 9 hours solid flying the PMDG 737-600 on Sunday East Mids to Sunburgh then Sumburgh to Keflavik then back to Donny. Also grabbed the 800 last night I think I'm addicted to it ....

Only slight hiccup I was behind the curve a bit when ( using VNAV ) I forgot to change the altitude TOD at Donny. Luckily there was only me and another on the flight deck so the rapid decent didn't bother anyone biggrin

Lol, tactical descent biggrin

Would love to have a better impression of the G forces involved, most commercial flights you barely notice any, bet some of mine I would be struggling to raise my hand.
haha yup Sarajevo Approach biggrin Neighbours still hear me screaming and that's without the GFORCE !

First time in ages with the pmdg. I need to start using the checklist. Took me ages to work out why I could hit pressurise..

Yup that would do it lol ! I’m currently having a problem with 600 and 800 that just started. Get airborne and have a flight controls master warning can’t engage autopilot and aircraft behaves strangely.

I’ve looked at all the service items hydraulic etc and it all looks ok.

Odd. Have you updated the pmdg? Try looking at failures and see if anything is active as well?
Yeah updated last night but still same. Nothing active I’m going to have a play this after just starting on the runway it’s annoying if you have put an hour into planning !

Why are you putting an hour into planning? It’s a flightsim game and there’s no passengers or crew except you. hehe
Look I'm not been funny but you're old enough to remember Tron have some consideration for those little guys living in your PC !

p.s. Have you purchased the PMDG 737 Stovey ? If not get on with it we need you to fall back on when we have these little gremlins pop up !!

Think I've sussed it after 7 or 8 flights without checklists etc I wasn't setting the IRS up properly. Just done a flight from Lanzarote to Madeira with no probs. Just shows you always use the checklist !
