This game can be so infuriating at times. In BF1 id normally finish top 10 yet this game im in the bottom half of the table then in a game yesterday i was sucking bad, not sure if it was due to some laggy person joining the game (if that affects servers i dont know) and insta-dieing then about halfway through i had a lil killing spree and nailed 4 in a row and drop shotting people from then on to the end of the round.
Also had one of the opposing team standing right next to me but as everyone is similarly dressed, neither of us knew that the other was the 'enemy' its a joke. Im not sure if its due to spotting being removed and therefore theyve removed the red/blue/green names above players but they need to do something.
I know others on here that i play with have nothing like the issues i have so not sure what is going on.
And finally, was playing on an American server yesterday with some Americans (obviously), all chatting in comms when one of them starts complaining about out of region players and how the top 5 will all have high pings and how EA are pandering to those with s
tty internet connection etc., lo and behold, most of the top 10 for both sides had 80+ pings (i was in 5/6th position pending on when you looked)

Apologies for a possibly dumb question, but im not super savvy with IT - how is having a bad ping beneficial, and how can EA be accused of helping those people?
I always believed that having the lowest ping possible gave you the best chance of getting the drop on an enemy when you came round a corner and faced each other - is that not the case?

ITs because EA introduced code to compensate for Ping which unfortunately gives people with a high ping an advantage. you shoot someone with low ping, the code says ah they have a high ping so they would have been in location Y not X, oh but sI always believed that having the lowest ping possible gave you the best chance of getting the drop on an enemy when you came round a corner and faced each other - is that not the case?

Ping switches, lag switches, CoD whinging babies
If they released a private server mode where you could turn the feature off it would be brilliant.

Funnily cabled internet, such as Virgin, isn't as good as VDSL etc setups. So you would be one of the players with more Jitter/a worse ping....![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Virgin has great speeds, but rubbish inter-connectivity/NATing, high roundtimes/Jitter and generally not great for gaming.

Speedtests say I have a ping around 9, and in game on the leaderboard its usually mid-20s. That's bad?!Virgin has great speeds, but rubbish inter-connectivity/NATing, high roundtimes/Jitter and generally not great for gaming.

Not many people use their mini maps anymore either
To be honest, I've been playing for years and rarely use the minimap. I just run to the sound of gunfire ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
On a serious note, as I've got older I struggle to take in all the information and have to hang back a little to work out whats going on.
Had a few decent games last night and similarly to BF4 and BF1, i'm enjoying it a bit more each time I play!
Really liking the reviving of squad members, it makes it quite edgy/nervy when you can see a downed teammate but you know the enemy are probably watching. Had a few times yesterday when i got killed, was revived, and then needed to revive them before carrying on.
Other observations... needs way more planes and tanks. Explosives are too underpowered having thrown a grenade at someones feet and it only took 30% of their health. Same for incendiary grenades, in BF1 you'd have to run and throw yourself to the ground to limit the damage to around 80%, in BF5 people seem to just carry on walking and fighting with little ill effects. Also the anti aircraft gun sounds great but does so little damage it's pointless.
I'll be on later on xbox gamertag MINIRocket81. I rarely use headphones/mics but happy to do so if there's a known squad i can join.

Does this game have a single player campaign like BF1? If so, how does it compare to that one? BF1's campaign was simple but I found it fun for the few hours it lasts.
Yep - very similar, 3 individual "stories" (parts 2 & 3 tick off the diversity requirements ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Theres a 4th story being released next week I think

I wish there was a way of dragging your fallen teammate into cover before you start reviving them - I mean, it would be similar to games like Hitman or Splinter Cell where you had to drag off dead bodies and hide them to stop enemies raising an alarm.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
