Based on the Twitter notifications I have been getting its getting easier and easier to get one now and the drops seem to be much more frequent.
Yes, it's got to the point where they are much easier to get but they're still not readily available in the likes of Argos etc.I also managed to get one on Amazon this morning. I wasn't in a desperate hurry for it as I was still happily playing GTA V online on the PS3! I certainly wasn't paying over the RRP either and neither should anybody else because it just encourages the resellers.
I got one at Argos that I need to collect.
But it's for my nephew in Ireland (Republic). And if it's a big old lump, I may end up paying a LOT to ship it over.
Thoughts on way to get it there?
Should I try and get one from Amazon UK, and would they ship to Ireland (I have some recollection that Nintendo Switch couldn't be bought in UK for Ireland delivery)
That said, happy too have snagged one. I promised one to my nephew for his birthday nearly a year ago. So naive.

I picked one up yesterday too.
The design is really st. Needing that stupid stand for it to sit horizontally.
The SSD is tiny, considering GT Sport is 110GB
Still a little barren for games that i haven't already played on PS4.
Yakuza like a dragon seems pretty cheap. Might give that a go.
I REALLY like the Dual Sense controller though.

Aren't you likely to be stung for customs / import duty etc if you're shipping from the UK to the Republic? But it's for my nephew in Ireland (Republic). And if it's a big old lump, I may end up paying a LOT to ship it over.

On a gift?
Yes, isn't a gift the value of a PS5 (which presumably you'd want securely couriered and insured for that sum to avoid it going walkies during transit) going to be liable for VAT?Well I've been enjoying my new PS5 playing Assassin's creed valhalla, ratchet and clank and Spiderman Miles morales incoming. Very impressed, the biggest improvement is the solid 60fps, but it's not the big graphical leap we have seen in the past, although improved obviously. PS4 games won't suddenly look obselete if you play a PS5.
By far the biggest generational leap is the dualsense pad - It's hugely impressive. The videos and reviews cannot capture how it actually feels to use, it's very clever and it makes the PS4 dualshock controller feels like a thing from the past. The haptic feedback is excellent, for example if you walk across a bridge with the wind blowing right to left, the right hand side of the controller will vibrate more strongly than the left side making it feel like the wind is blowing you sideways. Also the L2 and R2 buttons which are usually springy, will offer resistance depending on the game, such that if you press the button halfway down, you will feel a resistance that makes you need to 'click' the trigger if firing a gun in ratchet and clank for example.
