After my shenanigans with the sword the other night (although I did redeem myself ), you're welcome to it!
I will, however, challenge you (and the fireteam) to kill him with 1 sword.
If we can find a way to glitch it so that the sword doesn't vanish, no problem! Otherwise, bu*ger off! I will, however, challenge you (and the fireteam) to kill him with 1 sword.
Vanguard QM Harm's Way HMG is void but no field scout sadly. Mag size is 54 and my max capacity is around 162 rounds so useful. I've put a couple of upgrades on it running bounties, but only at 283 attack.
Still, seemed to make light work of the level 26 Praetorian I ran into on Venus patrol

Hope you guys enjoyed the vault last night. We had a great run considering there were a few vault newbies but IMO it was a little too easy. I get the feeling Moog didnt get the opportunity to get to grips with the atheon fight as itbwas over quite quickly?
Going to stick to Hard mode - especially since I finished off my NM weapon collection with Found Verdict and Atheons Epilogue last night (shame I just finished my thorn bounty!)

Glad to hear you guys finished Atheon, hope you enjoyed yourselves!
We had a blast carrying S99ane through Crota normal as a 4 man team. As a lvl 27, he was woefully ineffective (no change there then ) and the only task he could do effectively was to not die during the Crota fight (which he managed admirably I might add!). Essentially, we completed it as a 3 man team which was a challenge but, lots of fun
I'm also on a mission at the moment to solo the Crota fight which is also a challenge I'm really enjoying. Video of my best effort so far is here:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLcB7s8E5IE
You'll notice as I jump up the final time, I reload my rockets in mid air...that's me thinking I'm picking up the relic but, as I reach Crota and discover I'm swordless, my heart sank and I knew it was a wipe About 5 seconds later, he enrages and that was basically all she wrote! I can only assume the relic fell off the ledge or something! Only needed 3 more hits too, gutted!!
There seems to be alot of luck involved in doing this solo. The swordbearer won't always come to you when he gets aggro and once the timing is off, it is nigh on impossible to get it back on track. I also need to find a reliable way to get 3 hits on him if he is right or left. I've tried a few different strategies but, none are consistently reliable and most only give you 2 hits even when successful. Alternatively, I need a better method of killing the sword guy near to the wall so I can get 2 knees per sword.
I've experimented alot with different weapons. Gjallahorn is essential and the scout/sniper combo seems to work best. I tried fatebringer which is brilliant at clearing the thrall but, scout rifle is infinitely better for taking down the swordbearers and that has to be the priority.
Brilliant fun though!! Definitely do-able, just have to string it all together

Had a great time running through the Vault for the first time and all the confusion (in my head) that it generated at times Despite being hectic as hell, the Templar fight is the stand out piece for me overall with the fighting off hoards of goblins and minotaurs, then playing the “where’s the oracle, get it, get it, get it!” game followed by “crap, I’m marked, what happened to the cleansing pool? It’s gone” whilst dodging / blasting those pesky sniping hobgoblins.
We almost took down the Templar at the first attempt to boot and only a dropped relic stopped that. Got him the second time though.
Yes, the Atheon fight seemed to be over before it started not least because I spent time dead on the middle platform as I over boosted the jump on to it and straight down the gap Plus being one shotted by those exploding Supplicants (?) didn’t help until it was pointed out I should get on top of the pillars in the portal plates!
Still, I got to see most of the mechanics of the Vault including being teleported by Atheon (why is it going all dark, oh right, the relic) so that’s all good experience. Didn’t pick up the relic (nor did I want to on this run) but that’s something to try another time.
I’ve read a lot about the VoG and seen many videos to try and get a feel for what it’s about, but for anyone who is / was in the same boat as me, really do try and do it for real. It’s a great experience and one of the most frenetic yet enjoyable gaming things to do out there right now.
Other notable highlights include:
- Forgetting to actually open the first chest after the door was opened (I did wonder why everyone got stuff and I didn’t)
- Lovechild joining us at the Templar fight and then immediately dying up on the ledge where we couldn’t revive. What did happen there?
- Popping Light bubbles before shooting at the Templar only to be then encased in a containment field ergo, stuck
- Getting past the Templar, scoring rewards that shall go unmentioned from the chest and then promptly getting stuck in a hole
- Having recovered from the hole, then getting lost on the way to the maze
- The group getting spotted by a Gorgon, followed by almost Predator-esque (the film in case you were wondering) levels of blasting to kill it, most excellent
- Clearing the jump puzzle on the second attempt (no, I don’t know how that happened either)
- 8 (count them) Ascendant Shards
- Corrective Measure
- Vision of Confluence
- Suros Regime (oh yes, well chuffed!)
Thanks go to Dr_MS for setting it up and to the veterans who took us noobs through it. I said it last night but I can fully understand now why the first group who tackled it took 16 odd hours to complete it. Us? A mere 1 hour 45 mins

Enjoyed the VoG run also, seemed pretty straightforward considering it was only my 2nd full run through. Got Praediths Revenge which is useful as I haven't got many void weapons.
Should be on for a few hours this evening As the missis is out. Im up for some Crota as I haven't finished it yet, I need a load of shards and a chest piece to get to lvl32.

Now that is what a first raid experience ought to be!! We almost took down the Templar at the first attempt to boot and only a dropped relic stopped that. Got him the second time though.

I imagine Lovechild simply spawned up on the ledge - you always spawn dead when you join a fireteam who are raiding and usually in that spot during confluxes/oracles/templar.

Ah I see, that's makes sense then. I thought you'd be able to join and get stuck in. I wonder if that's deliberate to stop folks standing up on the ledge and simply sniping things? In fact, wasn't that a tactic in the very early days of the VoG? Some went down, others stayed up and cleared it all out very easily.lovechild said:
Speckle - I reckon you'll get crota before the week is out. I'll be disappointed if you don't!!
Well, if not this week, I'm off all next week so will have plenty of chance to practice!! With that in mind, if I don't manage it by reset, I'd be grateful for a hand getting to the Crota checkpoint on Tuesday at some point.Don't worry though, I'm still up for our complete 2 man effort next week!
