Still having issues with the server, but Rob is trying to sort it. The server is down at the minute, but should be up before Sunday - if it does not look like it will I will post up.

Looks like it's a no go this evening - still not managed to get the server running or access to the ftp.

Hopefully it will be resolved in the week, otherwise we might need to rethink going back to the old server, even if it is just for a month or so whilst the current issues are resolved.

Will update you next week.

Ok, now know the issues with the server - new faster connection and back-up system being set-up.

It's unlikely to be all resolved and new accounts set up by this weekend, so I will re-do the calender for us to start as of the 17th.

Email sent to everyone I can remember, if you have not received an email, then pm me with your email address (again)

part of email:

we are now about to start the UK Porsche Carrera Cup Series as per the link below:-

http://www.mercia.biz/mj/2009%20Season/PH%20PCC%20...

One key change to this series (to make it as close as possible) is the introduction of success ballast to race 2. Success ballast of 100kg, 85kg and 70kg will be added to race 1 finishing positions 1,2 and 3 respectively. Initial testing around Snetterton shows this effects the lap times by approximately 1 second. There will be no carry over to the next circuit.

What if I've already had a big lunch?
You can make use of the obligatory toilet break between race 1 and 2 smile

Was a good start to the season.

Qualified in 3rd and got a decent start, TVR Man in front and PV sideways into T1 - although under pressure I locked the fronts up into the hairpin and FWD passed. Spent a few laps chasing and finally got a run on him as he made a small mistake on the way down to the hairpin.

Started to pull away and all was going fine until I took too much curb going into T1 and it shot me off into the barrier - front spoiler missing and a puncture I had to limp back to the pits for some repairs. Came back out in 6th ? with Yogi 16 seconds ahead - with a duffed up car I managed to put in some decent laps and got it down to about 5 seconds, but on the last lap lost the back end in the chicane and that was that.

Race 2 - Starting on the front row of the grid I got a good start and passed Andy half way around the lap I think, then pulled away from the pack.... again all going fine until the last few laps where my tryes went to goo and I spun then again a lap later allowing TVR man to catch and pass and then Aston. Managed to get up along side Aston into the hairpin on the final lap, but he had the inside, I jinked left and we both ran deep but managed to keep ahead of PV.

I though the success ballast worked well, certainly seemed to slow those down by around 1/2 second and make it a bit more interesting.

Roll on next week and crashwell smile

Looking forward to Cadwell but I don't know it very well. The rest of the season will be a struggle as I'm not so good with fast corners where as I love chucking the car round Knockhill.

Just to update you.

Ricepilot has been busy working his magic and created our own race series skins for everyone who has raced over the past couple of years. The download files can be found here :

http://wiredracing.co.uk/

You will need to download this file and add it to your rFactor directory in the usual way - it will not affect any other mod.

You will also need to find your Team and buy the car.

See you online on Sunday

End of season highlights video is on the cards too smile

Race 1 - Did two laps earlier in the week to make sure the new mod worked and to get a feel for the track so free practice was the first real time to practice for me. Thought I would try a lower downforce setting on this track of 5, which was fine for sectors 1 & 2 (up about 4/10ths on TVR man but then lost nearly 2 seconds in the twisty bit. Changed to 10 with 1 minute to go and it felt a lot more stable ready for the race.

In the race I started 6th and got the jump on Andy and Aston, so was up to fourth TVR man shot into the pits at the end of the lap so was promoted to 3rd with FWD and PV pulling away. I think Aston was behind me but soon overtaken by TVR Man, who hounded me for the rest of the race. With about three laps to go there was a backmarker spinner at the top of the fast right hand curve, car coming back on to the circuit, I went right TVR man left and we both just about squeezed past. In the same lap another spinner in the final corner, which I just about managed to miss, but TVR Man collected.

I didn't realise I was in second until the last lap so cruised home for a bag full of points.

Race 2 - Starting on the back row with a bonnet full of rocks FWD got a better start than me but I managed to stay out of the pack and get the place back for the curves, couple of people fell off in front so was up to 6th by the end of the lap. With the ballast I could not make any inroads into Morph and Andy in front and settled for trying to keep FWD behind me - which was tough. Finally with a couple of laps to go I got a bit out of shape coming in to the gooseneck which allowed FWD to shoot up the inside in to the left hander at the bottom of the hill. Half on the grass coming out I left my braking later coming into the mountain sections and got very close to FWD as he was approaching Morph in front and sniffing an opportunity to get back through I got on the gas quickly but lost the back end so had to back off. A last gasp push to try to close in on Morph in the last two laps got me on to his bumper, but not enough time - 6th.

Top racing last night, nice n clean. This ballast certainly makes it more interesting in race 2 (can someone tell TVR man this though smile

If in agreement, we will trial an increase in the success ballast for next weekend - 1st = 150kg, 2nd = 112.5, 3rd = 90kg. See if we can tighten up the pack a little more for race 2.

Server now ready for next weekend - just found out top gear starts at 9pm this weekend, so lets stick to 8pm and be prompt for session changes - no breaks
