Great game up until the point where it locked up and froze the PS3 while trying to save a newly purchased car - as a result I can no longer load GT5 and suspect that even if I can my saved game will be lost.

Not impressed, was just starting to get hooked too, that's 800,000 credits and several hours of play I won't get back I guess.

Ouch. It's not crashed for me so far - touch wood. I was a bit worried about this as Black Ops keeps crashing on me and hanging the whole machine.

I got it today, put it in my PS3 and it downloaded and installed the update. However, it gets to the message about accessing the hard drive and seems to hang, the cursor doesn't move and only the PlayStation button does anything. I'm going to try disconnecting from the internet to see if that sorts it.

There is a recovery thing under the options menu in the GT5 menu.

Maybe on re-install it will try detect and use an existing profile or something if it was left ok.

Worth a see any way biggrin

My 360 is on it's last legs and I was possibly going to change it for a ps3 and gt5. To be honest reading the comments on here i'm not so sure it's a good idea. I think a new 250gb xbox and a copy of f1seems the better choice.

Like all things there will be complaints, check out Codemasters forum for the level of hatred on there for CM regards the buggy F1 2010.

I own both GT5 and F1 2010 and I love F1 and GT5, both got great reviews but the vast majority of owners of these 2 games don't post on a website about loving it. Only a small percentage have issues. Don't let that cloud your opinion, think of all the millions out there loving it!

Remember the age old quote "opinions are like aholes, everyone has one".

Get a copy and play it and see what you make of it.

^^^^

The problem with just buying a copy us it will cost close to 300 smackers as I don't have a ps3. Is it worth it for one game? I luved gt1/2 but since having a 360 i havn't looked back.

Fair point. Is it worth £300? I suppose
it depends on whether you van put enough time in to get enough out.

I don't think any game can possibly be worth that.

I personally don't think the game is too much of an improvement on the previous GT but the online play is really good. Whether mucking about or taking it seriously you can have fun and the go-karts can be turned in to an adult Mario Kart which is hilarious.

Sainsbury's were selling the PS3 for £199 and GT5 for £38, so you can get the package for less than £300 smile It's still quite a bit of money for one game, so I'd head to a game shop to try GT5 first ... However considering a Blu-Ray player is £100-150, the Sainbury's offer isn't that bad - If you decide to sell it, you should also get the majority of your cash back ...

I've done exactly this smile

Seen this offer in the paper. PS3 320GB + GT5 + Free Delivery = £259.99 from Toys R Us. Not a bad deal.

I dug out Prologue today to try to kick start some enthusiasm and I gave up after less than 10 mins. I had forgotten how dreadful and understeery the cars were.

Is the full version any better with regards to car handling/control?. Don't really care about damage or pretty graphics.

Imo it is much better, on a decent FF wheel.

If you play on a pad it's probably gonna feel more like the GT5 TT demo did, which will give you an idea of feeling before you buy biggrin

To me the full game handles just like Prologue.
I don't mind that, as I liked Prologue.

The thing that I wanted them to improve, and which they haven't, is the AI driving. Very Artificial and not very Intelligent.

All IMHO, of course.

Still think its the best driving game for its sheer size and variety.

Try the tuned Elise round Eiger, I think you'll find yourself praying for understeer...

If you genuinely dislike prologue though, rightly or wrongly, it's unlikely you'll enjoy GT5. I hear burnout is good for oversteer wink

For me though, it has been worth the wait smile

It is looking like a "wait till its a tenner on Ebay" deal then.rolleyes

I don't particularly *want* oversteer, certainly not daft NFS levels of it. I just cannot stand high powered RWD cars ploughing straight on when power is applied mid corner when such behaviour would not exist in reality.

I was hoping it would be an improvement on Prologue.

In my humble opinion, it is.

Only way to know for certain is to buy it, and try it (and it really ought to be played with a wheel)
