So, Valve have entered the game. It's the Index.

Looks good. Want the controllers, although I'm happy with the pimax I think the Index could be a gamechanger, they have apparently done way with the fresnel lenses and there is other clever stuff in there beyond the specs. I'm tempted.
I will certainly be getting the controllers.

Just picked up Ace Combat 7 - only 3 vr missions, but they're fun as hell and immersive in a way looking at a screen could never be. Although I do find it odd how playing something like Wipeout made me want to vomit within seconds, but here I can throw the aircraft around and feel absolutely fine.

I find I'm really sensitive to roll and pitch. I can't do a VR rollercoaster without feeling ill, and even Aircar had me feeling queasy once I tried rolling the ship. In fact, even VR where you walk around makes me feel ill. I decided to give Sansar a go, and also try The Solus Project in VR, and both made me fell ill when I started to move around.
This rather hampers VR for me unfortunately.

Anything with slide along movement makes me feel ill pretty quickly so I have to teleport. I use teleport in Arizona and I'm fine.
Most things in a cockpit I'm ok. I think if you have a static environment to anchor on the outer world can move as it likes. Try that with no cockpit and it's vom city.
I like alternate movement for first person stuff. Something like gorn or games where you bob up and down or swing arms to move is much more natural feeling.

Mine is about to get a dusting off after a long time unused. I have a trip to the Nordschleife in a few weeks and while I would never be so bold as to think you can learn the track properly, I'm hoping it gives me some triggers for the more fraught sections.
You can certainly learn whether the next bend is a tight left or an easy right, for sure. Picked up an Oculus Rift yesterday, set up was surprisingly painless and the PC is running it pretty well, though I've ordered more ram as I've only 8gb at the moment! Gtx 1060 6gb seems to be at the lower end but been fine so far.
Any 'must haves'? Mainly going to be doing shooting stuff and racing I'd guess, but I've got a good play area. A couple metres². Be good to have a couple games to let other folk try

Asserto Corsa & Project Cars 2 are great in VR. Asserto Corsa Competiozone )sp??) is meant to be good too, but I dont have it. just one WRCC series but looks great. iRacing & Raceroom are good but you need to get loads of DLC. Heard good things about Dirt Rally too
And Truck Simulator(US & European kinds) is different but fun & relaxing
And if you have a joystick handy, try DCS-World 2.5.Free,and looks great just pootling around the Caucasus. Also free is WarThunder, but its super grindy
Beat Saber & Gorn are fun to wave your arms to

Didn't get much time on tonight but got on to assetto corsa for a bit. Not my wisest idea after having having just finished a big fish & chips
I did struggle with motion sickness a bit, but I did go in at the deep end a bit. Straight in to my usual drifting cars & tracks. Might try some more sensible hot lapping tomorrow to bed myself in a bit more.
Spent some time on pavlov & it's good fun, not the greatest walking animation, though!
Added a few bits to my wish list & got another 8gb of ram arriving tomorrow so will try some heavier duty stuff. All good fun though!

I've ordered the controllers only at this stage. Wasn't much of an uplift to the headset only and it will work with my base stations.
It Pimax continues to annoy then I might get an index.
Thought this looked good - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/walkovr/walko...

So I started Doom VFR (was £9.99 on Steam) and immediately shat myself. I imagine the game has some crazy jump scares and detailed aliens enough to haunt you.
I have been messing around in OBS too, pegged a green sheet up to see how it looked and it's not a bad green screen to be fair, it's a little off colour through my webcam but it chroma keys okay. Might stream an hour at the weekend for a laugh.

I picked up a PSVR last week.
Would have preferred a Vive or Oculus but I wanted to give something cheaper a go before diving in to an expensive setup.
I have to say, I'm really impressed. The low resolution aside, the immersion is very impressive.
Racing games are fantastic, especially Wipeout and Driveclub VR. No issues with motion sickness there and I actually found the VR helped with judging braking distances. I had to laugh when I caught myself looking in the rear view mirror too!
Skyrim VR was ok, but feels a bit clunky and slow. Standing still and looking around is very cool though.
Doom VFR was the real waw moment though. Using the Aim controller, you really feel like you're there! The teleporting and fast movement didn't give me any motion sickness at all, but once I turned on the full movement I did feel a little sick, which is a bit of a shame, because the first boss fight with full look-strafing turned on made this the most immersive game I've ever played.
I'd love to see games like The Long Dark in VR, and I might need to buy No Man's Sky on PS4 to try out the VR version of it once that's released.
So a question, for those who've bought a PSVR and then gone on to more expensive PC headsets, how does the experience compare? Is the improved tracking and resolution increase worth the huge price difference?
