Haven't played it but the Stug is supposed to be a good TD so hopefully the grind won't be too bad, but if you're thinking the grinds are long at 5 you're in for a world of hurt later on hehe

There's a Czechoslovakian tank in the EU premium shop now. It's a tier 6 medium tank & costs £14.38. You also get a garage slot, 250 gold and a week's premium account for that.

https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wot/specials/?item=1...

From reviews of this tank I've seen, it's not that good.

I got my first missile firing vehicle in Armoured Warfare last night:

The tier 4 "M551 Sheridan" light tank. It has a 152 mm gun that can fire HEAT or HE rounds, or the Shillelagh anti-tank missile. biggrin

This is actually the same gun as used in World of Tanks on the T49 light tank.

The reload on regular rounds is about 12 seconds and for the missile it's 20 seconds. It is quite fun though, as you need to steer it in flight and it hits pretty hard. Exactly like this:

The reviews I've read on the forums weren't great but Jingles likes it! Guess I'll have to try it on the test server before blowing any cash on it.

Mind you he didn't like the French M4 which I thought was OK (he said in a toss up between that and the AMX CDC he'd go for the CDC every time).

The pen is a pretty poor 132 mm on the Czech T-40, so you'll need to use premium HEAT ammo if you want to damage tier 8s. Unfortunately they're 4,800 credits a shot. eek

It's on the test server now with a 100% crew if anyone wants to play it.

Seems that Wargaming have blinked and dropped the "pay to win emblems" from patch 10.0. They are being "reworked" apparently. Smart move, they were catching a lot of heat for this.

Signs of intelligent life at WG HQ, or just law of averages that amongst the stupid decisions occasionally they get one right...?

Crazy implementation they came up with though, how on earth they ever thought it would fly is beyond me. Concerning as well that they couldn't see the P2W element of it, or even more concerning they could and didn't care.

They'll argue it isn't pay to win because you can play to maintain, they'll just reduce the cost or increase the lease time.

Fans of the T18 tank destroyer, the scourge of tier 2, will be in for a shock when patch 10.0 lands.

It's now a tier 3 artillery.

Well I guess it is an SPG not a TD in reality

I watched the Quickybaby review and, while I agree it isn't a good idea, would it really have made that much difference to the 'average' player?

To the unicums and other excellent players I can see how an percentage increase could tip the balance but to the vast majority (especially when most of the emblems QB showed seemed extremely situational) I couldn't really see the point.

Anyway, I'm glad they've listened and dropped it.

Interesting about the T18 too. Haven't played the VK-B of tier 2 for a while but it was always good fun.

In randoms then no, it probably wouldn't be such a significant issue. The big deciding factors in those are the initial MM, then the relative skill of the players in confrontations. Given that there is such a wide pool of players, and variation in tanks / equipment then an extra 3% to load time or whatever is less likely to be the real deciding factor - more likely games would still be decided because one or more of the team have decided to go and lick a window instead of de-capping or something.

For the clan war and competitive side of it though I can see it being a burden on those players who need to compete at the top end, especially if they aren't in such a successful clan that generates gold income.

I think the bigger problem though, for me, is that it would just create / reinforce that 'pay to win' perception, so that whining increases and people feel obliged to pay the really high silver / gold costs just to level the playing field. Just felt really cynical to me, somewhat exploitative of the player base. I know people would have choice, but rational decision making <> world of tanks playerbase.

Most of the top players use food to give their crews an extra edge. It's usually at the expense of the fire extinguisher though, so there's a trade off in risk.

It makes sense to use it on artillery sometimes too, where fire is the least of your problems. I use food on my GW Panther to help with the reload and aim time.

I use high octane fuel instead of a fire extinguisher on my E-75 in order to get the damn thing to move faster than a slug. Since they changed German tanks a while ago, they don't constantly get engine fires from frontal hits.

Normally this would be 20K credits per game, but if you stock up when they're half price, it's not too bad.

One of the worst nights I have had on WOT for many months. Seems like Wargaming had it in for me tonight.

22 games played, 17 losses and so bad I dropped a WN8 overall point.

I had games where I played terribly and so, so many games where my team just crumbled like shortbread.

Sigh, tomorrow is another day!

I've had a couple of days like that this week too. The matchmaking got so bad that I was contemplating just driving into the nearest deep water if the next team was top heavy with useless red noobs again. The result is a total forgone conclusion anyway, so I'd just be saving time. In the end I gave up and played some Armoured Warfare instead. It's free premium time on there for the weekend anyway.

Today I won 9/10 games with WoT, so go figure. I'm trying to grind credits with premium tanks, so once I'd made 250K I didn't want to tempt fate any longer.

Much better games this morning. Fk knows what was going on last night.

Stats for last 24 hours now show 12 wins, 23 losses and, worst of all, an average WN8 of 547 for those matches. mad

It was down at 240-something last night!

bd game!

I had a go on the ghost tank mode on the Xbox last night, the Halloween special mode, the level design for "Dead City" is cool, but the gameplay itself was rubbish. The tanks have massively powerful engines and zero ground resistance, so it's a bit like trying to steer a 2000bhp Supra on 165 section tyres while shooting at other tanks. Two games was all I needed to decide it wasn't for me. Lunar Chaffees was better.

Sounds good. We have nothing on the PC version apart from a snazzy backdrop in the garage.

Yeah it looks rubbish too. There should be an option to go back to the normal garage without having to hack it.
