The only way to win the xbox dead city game is to stick together then get up close and personal when firing, usually with auto aim. The howitzers are far too slow when you have 1500hp tanks drifting everywhere.

I discovered to my annoyance that those battles don't contribute towards the Halloween havoc mission so then I stopped with them.

I installed AW yesterday played a couple of hours manage to get a couple of tier 2 tanks.

Interesting game, better smoother graphics but very much an arcade game feel rather than a sim.

You dont feel like you are driving a 60ton tank or shooting 90mm shells, or even getting hit.

The only vehicles that are a bit weird to play and control are wheeled ones. I think they need to work more on the springiness of the suspension and the big tyres. It doesn't stop them being effective though.

I really like the feel of the tanks in Armoured Warfare and the gun handling is great. I've played all the tier 3s and all but two of the tier 4 vehicles now and the only tank I didn't particularly like was the M60 at tier 3. Not because it was a bad tank, it was just a bit sluggish and had a slow turret traverse for me.

My first and only tier 5 so far is the Chieftain Mk5:

Now this isn't very quick, but it does have excellent frontal armour and 10 degrees of gun depression. It doesn't carry HEAT rounds (a rifled gun's spinning of the round adversely effects the performance of shaped charges), but it does fire APFSDS (sabot) and HESH.

Going back to WoT is hard after playing AW, despite having a couple of weeks of premium time left. The stty teams I keep getting there are like aversion therapy.

I have a sin to confess

last weekend the only option was play platooned in CIRC was to play arty

So I caved in a bought the S-51

3 people on TS focusing a single tank at a time can be very very OP.

Well you'll burn in hell for that one for sure. tongue out

A had a friendly arty cover me with smoke shells in Armoured Warfare the other day. They don't cause damage, they just air burst and turn the area into a real pea souper for a while.

We should have smoke canisters in WOT. Wargaming are missing a consumable there. The more expensive it is the denser / longer the discharge laugh

Would be nice apart from:

1. The Russians complained about the foggy maps, as most of them are running the game on a potato and couldn't render the fog properly, heaven help their spuds with something even more cpu intensive.
2. I give it about 6 minutes for someone to create a mod removing it...

Spotting mechanics are done server side so removing the graphic wouldn't render a tank visible a-la War Thunder though.

Many of the tanks get smoke grenades as an upgrade, so they can pop them off when they want to disappear in a hurry. I keep forgetting I have them to be honest.

Arty is a liability on many of the PvE maps. It disadvantages the team, who'd be much better off with another tank.

I've just bought an arty piece in AW, mainly as you can unlock new commanders with them. I'd only play it on selected maps though (you can see which map you'll get before you commit to battle).

All the arty have turrets & you know how much than helps. The controls are exactly the same as WoT, but the gun handling is much better. The view is not top down, but the angled view you get in WoT with the Battle Assistant mod.

I am going to have to try AW now.

Are the maps better than the general state of the WOT ones ?

Yes, but let's face it, it'd be hard not to be.

Not played it much but there is far less camping and corridors on the 3-4 maps I have seen. far faster paced

I did start an AW thread, but it's been quiet...

I really haven't ended up playing much of anything for the last couple of months or so, leave alone learning my way around a new game frown

MT15 done for the T28 HTC.

I now just have LT15 to do. Suspect I'll need a few more tier 8 lights for that one, but I'm saving my pennies for Xmas in the hope there will be discounts.

Have also finished the Crusader tier 7 British arty and sold it immediately! The tier 8 is not high on my list of priorities!

I logged in today and found some free gold in my account, the Ram II was up for free download this weekend on the Xbox, but if you already owned one you got the 1500 gold value of the tank instead. I used it to purchase an SU-76i, the tank that was only sold for a day or so before they pulled it on the PC as it's so stupidly OP. Low tier games are completely broken at the moment as everyone is playing these things.

At least WG listened to us, giving us the option to buy the tank alone as well as in the usual packages that rare tanks come in, giving us a tank only, tank plus 3 days premium and a tank, ammo, equipment and 3 days premium options. I went for the base option as I'm fking rolling in silver and I've got loads of premium time anyway.

Is this premium account holders only? I logged in yesterday and didn't find any of the above frown

I did find that in some battles one person had a gold 'halo' around their mtank marker. Do you know what that means? Gold reward for killing them?

The Ram II bundle was available to anyone, it was an item in the Xbox store. I personally don't rate the Ram all that much, it's far from the best money maker at tier 5, it's armour is poor, it's gun is not all that well suited to the platform etc. For a free tank, it's was worth a download.

I haven't seen any players with halos - I've only played 2 games in the past week, but there was an event on this weekend where WG staff were in tier 5 tanks with red skins, killing one of them netted a 500 gold reward. That would have almost certainly been the WG players.

Purchased one today. Only one battle so far, 4 shots and 4 kills.

Working the French heavy line at the moment, currently on the ARL44, its a bit of a beast! 59 battles with 65 kills and I've only researched up to the 90 mm F3. Someone please tell me the rest of the French line is this good smile

They're OK apart from the tier 9 AMX 50 120. As a supposed heavy tank, which it isn't, it gets matched against the likes of E75s and Conquerors, which it can't handle frontally. So your team is automatically a tank down before you even start. The American tier 9 autoloader is a medium tank, so it doesn't suffer this problem.
