As close as it's going to get, Half Life 2 train station recreated in Unreal Engine 4.

Used to have access to somewhere near identical to this for photo shoots. An old gwr workshop in Swindon. Will try to find an old image as its uncanny the similarities

I've always found it bizarre they have no interest in releasing something that would be a licence to print money

With the weight of expectation about it, they have everything to lose by releasing it. Or would you rather they chuck something rubbish out the door and be accused of taking a big steaming dump on the legacy of HL?

Let's face it, it would be an impossible task to satisfy everyone's expectations and desires. Better to just let it lie.

I'd rather they didn't let it lie seeing as Episode 2 ended on a cliffhanger so they obviously planned future instalments. Yes there would be expectations, just as with any other big release, but that's no reason to not bother. People would buy it no matter what, so from a financial point of view they won't lose.

Or failing that, they could release Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Team Fortress 3...........or anything at all actually. Isn't DOTA 2 the only thing they've released this decade?

Valve have a very unusual business setup with no hierarchy, and they let their developers basically work on whatever they want (within reason, I'm sure).

It's a very bold, interesting and evidently successful way to run a software business. It makes a lot of sense because the best work comes from teams who are passionate about what they're making, and that's where their biggest post-HL successes sprouted from.

I'm sure that's part of the reason we've been left hanging. No management or finance department to demand it gets made and no devs feeling they could take on such enormous responsibility.

I would pay good money for a re-release of halflife 1 on PS4.

Probably explains why Steam Greenlight is such a complete mess. Great idea in theory, but their complete lack of quality control has turned it into a dumping ground for idiots, chancers and con artists

I'd take a month off work to play this game if it ever came out.
