I've seen this and it looks my sort of thing so will probably get it once this is all over.

For reference the last three games I've played and loved have been Mafia 3, mad max and sleeping dogs.

I saw a few people recommend rage 2 as a follow up to mad max but hated it as didn't like the futuristic Ray gun style.

So is it worth me getting?
I would recommend it. It's visually good, has a reasonable storyline and enough surprises and enemy difficulty to keep you entertained.

Just bought this for £13. Just got to Copelands camp.

Not convinced so far.

Stick with it. It gets better, especially when you start:
(a) taking on hordes
(b) getting good at taking on hordes!

Though you'll need a few character and gun upgrades to get to (b).

I really enjoyed this by the end, it had some real tense moments too.

Update.

Rapidly heading towards endgame.

I'm enjoying this game a lot, although Hordes scare the crap out of me.

Sadly the game seems to suffer from quite a severe 'Open world dip' which nearly put me off. But does become much more compelling later.

Also, the frame rate sucks on PS4.

Fantastic game. The most fun I've had on the PS4 for years and I was gutted when I completed it.

And yes, proper balls in stomach moments when you encounter hordes that you're not comfortable taking on!

I'm nearing the end of Ghost of Tsushima at the moment and that's great too.

Glad you're enjoying it. When I was playing it, I thought I would struggle through to the end then never touch it again. However by the end I had enjoyed it enough to play again on NG+ which added a new dimension of "bravado" as I had stealthed my way through the first time. Every once in a while I reset all the hordes and re-play them, someone put a lot of effort into balancing the hordes as with the right tactics and environment management it always gives you the chance to avoid being overwhelmed, even the suckers at the Sawmill.

Frame rate on PS4 Pro was pretty locked at I'm guessing 30fps, so looks like it just needs that extra headroom.

Not quite 'free' - you will need to get PS Plus. Though with the games bundle deal on offer for PS5 I can't see anyone not opting for it and it's only about 40 quid a year. Plus many existing PS4 owners will also have a sub already.

Yes.

One other negative is the enforced 'stealth' missions. They suck. Not many of them but not exactly fun.

My view so far (Just about to get super Molotovs) is there is a truly great game in here, hidden by poor pacing and some annoying mechanics.

In my defence I pretty much assume everyone with a PS5 will want to play online so it is a foregone conclusion.....

This is an excellent game, I really enjoyed it and everyone seems to have a similar view. It takes a while for it to gel, but once it does it hooks you in completely. Like the poster above, I was gutted when I completed it.

Added to PS Now for this month, so can play for free.

I have tried to get into it twice now and given up. I sold my copy but might give it another chance.

Finished the last Horde earlier.

I really enjoyed this much more than expected.

Even though it has significant technical and gameplay issues, I still want to play it, and I'm a real fussy pants.

I may play RDR2 next, or horizon Zero Dawn, or, or, or....

I have Vampyre and Need for Speed on mine!?! Nope ignore me, it is PS Plus I am taking about, when you said for free I got confused there as I view PS Now as a rental package... (and yes I know the PS Plus is too as you have to pay but I man maths that as internet gaming....)
