I downloaded DCS recently but am yet to open it up and get going. Not sure I have the time to learn all the nuances, is there a load and fly type setup? or does one really need to learn the start procedure for said aircraft and all the rest?
Start here- a little light reading https://www.mudspike.com/dcs-f-15c-combat-guide-fo...

Fortunately from playing other sims I am fluent enough to understand HUD and gauges etc I just don't have time to learn the minutiae of each aircraft and each sim and have a plane to refuse to start because I forgot for the 19th time to switch on one of the magnetos (Bloody IL2!) etc
I will give it a whirl this evening and see how I get on
Probably not the sim for you then?I will give it a whirl this evening and see how I get on

To be fair, you can learn just one. And some are waaaaay more complex than others
The newer DCS modules like F/A-18C, A10-C etc. are much more complex and detailed than the older stuff that was carried over more or less as-is from LOMAC/Flaming Cliffs. The old A-10A, F-15C, MiG-29 etc. are easier to learn but obviously not as detailed. For a newer player it might be worth getting the FC3 module for DCS first and learning a couple of the planes in there, before moving up to the really detailed, intricate sims.Eagle Dynamics are apparently also working on a new flight sim called Modern Air Combat (reusing old sim titles!) which apparently is a less detailed/more easily accessible game than DCS, for the less-devoted player.
Got my HOTAS the other day, grabbed the Persian Gulf and F-16 modules on the free-to-play thing. So far crashed 2x F/A-18's and 2x F-16s Going to take a bit of getting used to. I noticed that the F/A-18 and A-10C modules seem to have a profile already for my HOTAS (Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS) so while they're not perfect I was at least off and running, but I've had to set up the F-16 almost from scratch. There are almost no training scenarios for the F-16 too - or does that only come if you shell out for it?
