The Celica and/or Stratos from Sega Rally.

Ironically though in real life, I'd rather have the Delta Integrale.

Bit of an obscure one (I'm not generally a fan of BMWs as it is)...

M3 GTR from GTR2. I probably spent 100+ hours lapping in this thing on single player GTR2. I downloaded Castle Combe, would fill the grid with these, start from the back and then see if I could win a race. Difficulty level set just right to make it a real challenge.

I was just remembering Virtua Racing in the arcade, that was a pretty good game and probably one of the first attempts at a "sim" rather than a cartoon style game, there were a few cabinets to choose from, a twin one, a stand up and then an actual F1 style car you sat in that moved with hydraulics.

I remember buying it for the Megadrive on a cartridge that came with it's own extra graphics card built in a cost a fortune, it was impressive back then though.

Again I've probably moved away from "favourite game car" (sorry) as they were just generic F1 cars but it was a great experience.

There was a compressor inside those machines to activate the seat motion, pretty basic these days, but back then it was really effective.

I was still working on those Virtua Racing machines when I got given a vhs tape showing the Daytona intro, we were blown away by the new Model 2 graphics technology that Sega and Lockheed had jointly developed.

Pulsar GTI-R on the first Gran Turismo, the sheer joy at FINALLY being able to afford Race Modification and seeing that glorious red, white and blue livery!

edit -forgot about the Escudo Pikes Peak and the Stratos in SEGA Rally too.

Also the yellow Penske in the Indianapolis 500: The Simulation game for the PC that was released in 89, and the McLaren MP4/4 in Grand Prix Circuit. And the Lambo LM002 in Stunts!

Ah memories...

2nd edit - the 406 in Toca Touring Cars too - my dad had one at the time. And the Corolla in V-Rally.

I always remember the very first time I saw Virtua Fighter(although I think that was Model 1), I was blown away by how good it looked compared to what I was used to at the time.

I've always been a huge Sega Arcade games fan for sure. Virtua Racing on my Sega Saturn just didn't seem to cut the mustard for me.

This car tuned to the max was unbelievable lol

I mentioned this earlier too.

Wasn't the 0-60 time something like 0.5 seconds (or less)?!?

The Escudo was a missile, as was the Dragster in the same game but both were bloody horrible to get to turn so we’re fairly horrible on track. Wasn’t there another mental Suzuki as well?

Did you ever manage to finish that game? I played it quite a bit but mostly just messed around running over pedestrians and never quite figured out how to beat it. Watched a Youtube clip earlier this year showing how it's done!

Dunno about GT1 and 2 so much but I remember in GT4 the Toyota 88C-V thingy could be made to wheelie, in which state I think it would do over 400mph or something?

I remember driving that old aero Auto Union thingy around the banked test track. It was absolutely lethal!

I used to get bored trying to find them...so I always ended up resorting to just running pedestrians over and crashing into things as well! hehe

I would've said the Pikes Peak Suzuki too.

But this thing also holds a special place in my heart:

I used to drive it with all assists off and it was a massive handful to drive, but so rewarding when you mastered it, I remember feeling like a driving god as my big brother could never keep it on the track and I used to make that thing dance.

Spent a serious amount of hours flying round the secret race track on Test Drive Unlimited in a Noble M12, nothing could get near me until the straights biggrin

I loved the Toyota TS020 (GT One) from the Gran Turismo games and ofcourse the Escudo Pikes Peak once fully upgraded and had IIRC 2000BHP! wobble

I also have fond memories of spending hours driving Forza Motorsport 1 and the Ferrari 550 Race car - I was obsessed with the 550 / 575 growing up so this was the first chance to 'drive it' in a game.

Then came Porject Cars and the Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 - pounding that around Oulton feeling like a British GT AM driver nerd

But recently I have to save my favourite all time video game car has to be the Bentley Continental GT3 in Assetto Corsa Competizione. The way the car looks and sounds is incredible, exactly like the real thing. Amazing.

Yeah VF1 was groundbreaking, it looks so dated now.

I’ve got a mint Daytona in my garage, plus quite a few other bits and bobs.
