Welcome back Dern and AJ

GTR has replaced GPL as the number of entrants petered out each week with GPL, but GTR has strong grids.

Dern, join as soon as you can, there is a huge difference in skill levels but we are all pretty good at being lapped and politely let past the faster guys.

I think we should have a regular weekend race as well as Monday. Inm the old days we used to do F2 GPL on Sunday and F1 on Sunday - seemed to work well when we had plenty of interest.

See you all at Monza tonight

I hate the chicanes at Monza and have never driven the vertigo - should be a laugh, see you at nine!

Monza... is that the one with the 2 1st gear chicanes? If it is I may join you as (by coincidence) it's the one I've been practicing on. What's a vertigo, do I need to download it? What time are you playing and how do I get in?

Cheers,

Mark

You can find the vertigo in the Gillet mode type. I think it's a GT2.

www.chez.com/gillet/

Had my first run of it yesterday - like FWD said it handles we'll enough and there are a few decent online setup's to download. Trick is to be steady, better to complete the lap than fly off the parabolica in to the gravel. ( note to self - do not go too fast around parabolica )

Superb Dern

We start qualifying at 9pm but the server is running already for practice.

When you start the game, select Simulation mode and choose multiplayer. You will have to enter your userid and online password that you created when you first set up the game. This will take you into the main Chat Lobby.

Our little chat room is called Pistonheads and the password is PHLeague. The race server is also called Pistonheads and the password is also PHLeague. I'm in there now having a practice as I have not used the Gillet before

You might have to register again through GTR if you haven't been online in simulation mode yet, as their servers take a different set of info for each mode... fo some reason. It's just a case of typing the info in again though.

The vertigo looks much better in GTR than on those webpages!

I really hate the first two chicanes at monza but the vertigo is a dream to drive, its so easy to slide around.

well my pc crashed in the dying moments of qualifying and so I couldn't rejoin in time for the race

In our little race at donington afterwards something wierd happened... going into the 1st hairpin I drove straight through diver but then after that i seemed to be on track on my own. The chatroom said you were all in the server but the server said it was empty. oh yes the server dumped me back into practice. very strange.

time for bed i think.

Hi guy's,

Good race last night - MJ I apologise again for nerfing you off at the second chicane - sorry mate.

I noticed I was lacking a bit of straight line speed lastnight - out of curiosity how many were running with the 'default' monza race set-up??

Where's the best place to find tweeked set-ups from? or the best way to start tweeking the standard set-ups.

Cheers

I was running the defualt setup except for medium rears where the default is soft.

I noticed being slower on the straights too, but a bit faster through the twisties.

I didn't change anything except put too much fuel in. I put the lack of straight line speed down to my slow corner exit speed as when I got it right I kept pace with the others.

No worries woody, I was getting used to playing in the sand !

I find that there is usually a half decent setup in the simbin lobby - just click the "online file" under the garage setup page in the game and you'll be able to look at all the ones people have uploaded to the server (track specific).

Last night I downloaded a few but found them a bit harsh, so went back to the default then reduced the rear wind and increased the rev limiter. Generally worked but too little wing for the slower corners making the back end twitchy

So are we on for the TVR Cup next week ? Enough time to set it up or another single make race ?

I've been inspired by this thread..
Bought myself a USB controller, cleaned the keyboard and GTR is on its way

Room for another?

TVR cup? Do you use the Pistonheads TVR skin I've seen knocking around..?

Thanks,
Dave.

I couldn't get the skin to download the other day - anyone else managed to get it?

P.S - would also like the rollcentre one if anyone knows where that is.

Cheers

TVR cup here

although it doesn't have the PH skin in there. I did have it, deleted it to make this work, now I can't get it back!

oh well, lots of others to choose from, mostly i'm loving the dewalt livery

Link to PH skin:

www.m4driving.it/download/8690.html

not sure if this will conflict with the TVR cup though - might be worth installing it on a clean copy of GTR.

PH (and any additional) skins won't work unless it's on the server.
