Sometimes, wfh is a good thing. I changed my order last week to include the Horizon game as a bundle rather than doing separately based on the price. Had an email last night that the controller charging station had shipped, but nothing about the unit itself.
DPD man Jordan turns up with both around an hour ago… unexpected bonus! He had something like 90 drops on his round today, and 80+ were the’same’ boxes - i.e. the VR2. That’s just one area of N. Manchester, so I wonder how many are actually out there?
Not turned it on yet, plugged it in, and am charging the controllers ready for tonight. (the chaarging cradle is ‘fiddly’ in terms of putting controllers in place (might be unfamiliarity), but first thoughts are that the controllers want to rotate out of your hand, they’re not balanced if you’re just lightly gripping & not with thumb on thumbstick - but I haven’t tried playing yet, as mentioned, so this may not be an issue.
GT7 first, and then got the Kayak game, Horizon & The Light Brigade to go at. Will then put the PS4 on & see the real difference to VR1!

I've got an Oculus CV1 used mostly with Assetto Corsa.
In comparison to that, the set-up and general use is comically better. Very slick, but then it has to be as that's the point of a console!
The headset is remarkably light, and it blocks out all ambient light without applying any pressure to your actual face. It is very easy to put on and adjust.
It has a much bigger sweetspot of clear focus than the Oculus did, and the headset positioning is far less critical to being in that sweetspot.
I can't see any screendoor effect. There's something perceptible, almost like a thin veneer of tiny dust over a helmet visor, but not what I would call pixels and certainly not the visible black grid of the Oculus Rift CV1.
Head tracking worked flawlessly in GT7 and the game is very slickly integrated, as you'd expect.
Turning to look at stationary trackside objects (marshalls, crowd etc.) as you race past there is some noticeable ghosting.
For me it's a significant step up in visual quality over the Oculus, and crucially I know I can just turn the PS5 on and it'll all work without having to mess about every time getting things sorted!

I managed to get about 30 minutes on Kayak before the kids came home. As someone new to VR I did notice a little bit of motion sickness, although for me it wasn't really sickness, more "discomfort".
Objects at a distance do seem a little blurry/not sharp, but overall the experience was really good. As others have said, so easy to setup and get going.
I'd actually quite like to see what watching a couple of films will be like too.
Very much looking forward to trying Horizon and GT7, and Pavlov too, but as someone currently suffering with the flu, that might have to wait a couple of days!

First impressions (from GT7 alone) are positive.
Quick to setup (less than 5 min) & we’re off.
As mentioned above, there’s some ‘grain’ to the visuals, especially in the trial mountain tunnel, for example, but it’s much, much less intense than the same effect as could be seen ‘everywhere’ in PSVR1, so I’m liking it.
Noticeably more immersive if you’re using a car that rolls & pitches (I used the 240z), that sees/feels just right, and (as hoped, based on GT5 and VR1) I can instantly save a few seconds a lap by being able to judge braking points much better than on a flat screen. Hitting the apex has never been easier. At the same time, while I’m never going to be a certain Mr. Harris, being able to look where I want to go makes sliding around a whole heap more consistent too.
Having the other cars around you (looking across when passing one to see the driver looking back at me was odd!) makes you much more mobile while playing, you do turn your head on the way into a corner to check that car isn’t going to send it up the inside.
Just on graphic fidelity alone I’d say this is a leap vs. PSVR1, although that shouldn’t be a surprise. Going to try something else now that uses the vr controllers, to see what that is like. Will go for kayaking, and save Horizon for when I can spend an evening on it.
Interested to hear from people who’ve got any FPS games, Pavlov looks impressive - might be my next buy.

Had a few hours on it today and I think Sony has hit this one out the park. It was setup and running in 10 mins flat, the headset is very light, comfortable and adjustments very easy. GT7 is awesome, interiors are so sharp and detailed and so it feels so immersive, it's a different game in VR with a wheel. Visually it's a good step up from the Quest 2 connected to a PC, hardly any screendoor effect at all.
I've only really played GT7 properly so far, Had a quick go on Kayak VR which looks stunning. Also paid for the update on Rez Infinite which was a favourite on PSVR1, they have overhauled the controls completely to work with the new handsets and it feels like a new game, movement is now controlled by looking around and it honestly feels like your spinning in your seat while your static, weird but very cool.
Also no nausea as yet, I haven't played much VR recently so I expected to feel a bit dodgy at first but I think the sharp smooth visuals really help.

Only managed a an hour or so due to work and kids. Purchase of the year already for me! As everyone has said set up a doddle but this is truly mind-blowing and a huge leap from PSVR especially the new controllers. My jaw dropped on the opening of Horizon when that huge robot animal came walking by. The kayak game is a bit fiddly but shows the power of the headset in terms of real world graphics. GT7 I did one lap in Lamborghini and again totally blown away with the immersion. I noticed have felt less motion sickness on this v the original headset not sure if just me? Resident Evil Village starts tomorrow for me as I have never played it so going to be mad!

I was surprised at how much motion sickness I’ve experienced - not in a good way
Not played VR before ao i was fairly dismissive but it hit me hard and im just hoping it eases up over the next week of playing otherwise it’ll end up being another toy for the kids! (who seem immune)
I think some people just struggle with VR, a few of the games on PSVR1 used to really make me feel dodgy after a few minutes. If you stick at it and do short sessions, it will improve, some games are worse than others, free roam walking games with undulating terrain I find the worst. Also try putting a fan in front of you.Not played VR before ao i was fairly dismissive but it hit me hard and im just hoping it eases up over the next week of playing otherwise it’ll end up being another toy for the kids!
