What times are people getting? I can't control the damn car. Crash on every lap. I ended up having to crawl round frown
Well, with one other mate, we had a dabble at the short circuit. We upgraded the shocks, no assists at all (no breaking zones etc either) and using an xbox 1 pad (manual gears) on my third lap i managed a 1.42.103, he got into 1.41's on a wheel suggesting 1.40 would be possible with a few more laps.

Might give you an idea of what is possible anyway and i'm sure the above times can be beaten.

In that case I have quite a way to go yet. frown

We should have a get together online one night maybe?

I have seen others posting 2.13 and 2.12's for the bigger track.

my best so far is a 1:45 no assists on the sprint course, using a DFP FF wheel, I'm more used to the 360 pad so it's just a case of getting the hang of the wheel again...

I keep checking for PH rooms but none appear!

I can't get under 2:50 for the bigger lap, but I'm using a mouse FFS.

I've been around 1:52 for the short track, but that was focussing on going sideways wherever possible rather than going quickly. Might have to try a tidy lap or 3 sometime and see what times I get.

ETA: 1:45 now including crashing into the tyres at the chicane. still plenty of room for improvement on that.

First go I got 1:50, including some hairy sideways action at the chicane. We should meet up at a certain time in the online lobby. I can be there at 9pm tonight if anyone is interested?

All aids turned off, had only been running on the full GP circuit so tried a few laps on the short sprint track.

Best of 1m40.8s with other laps in the 1m41s.

BMW's for rfactor (for the lazy people)

Also Race is on that site, the caterhams are fantastic!*

  • Of course you should only use if you own the original game.

If you are using autoclutch to get the downshift blip you get in the M3 Challenge game you need to change a line in your PLR file

Auto Blip="1"

Plus the sound is messed up on the installation above, the engine sound isn't balanced out of both speakers, you get it all out of the right speaker. To fix it edit the BMW_M3_eng.ini so the Engine sound line reads :-

EngineSound=(0.400, 0.800, -1.25)

Changing the engine.ini file might cause online miss-matches so if you do that you might as well fix the ride height as well to stop the wheels coming through the bodywork.

Change the graphical offset line in the HDC (or HDV file if it's been renamed) so that it reads 0.18 in the middle (which is the height figure) as below. It's current setting is too low.

GraphicalOffset=(0.0, 0.172, 0.0) // does not affect physics!

How do you disable "on exit confirmation yes or no" screen when you exit the track or something on this mod

It's part of the UI for that mod, it will disappear next time you choose another mod and restart the game.

Alternatively if you are happy to edit files, edit this line in the BMW_M3.rfm file in the RFM folder.

OptionsDir=UIDATA\BMW_M3_UiData\

add // in front of it so it looks like this

//OptionsDir=UIDATA\BMW_M3_UiData\

// means ignore. smile

Why can't they make a pc game that you can just play, without having to have a degree in IT to get it to run properlyweeping

Hehe, this car is a bit more interesting with 7spd ratio's from E60 M5, a shorter final drive and zero shift time...

Well, for a game at least, still rekon it'd be boring in real life without a clutch/gearstick.

No one made a decent conversion for rFactor yet?

Ie, buy one car, skins = colours, rather than buying 10 cars, and then choose wheels/steering upgrades after? (ie, for 900deg wheels etc)?

Current one is super stiff and understeers everywhere hehe

Yes the one in my link 6 posts up, it creates an M3 Challenge as part of RaceX. It's the best conversion.

Hmmm, what is this RaceX, no one just made the car an 'addon' like the C6 Corvette? 30meg download and all done and dusted frown

Also still has stupidly stiff suspension.

/Goes off to learn how rFactor works and make a decent road car version from it biggrin

Race converted to rFactor. Although if you know how to create an RFM (simple really) then just download the RaceX M3 Challenge, create a new RFM for it and copy accross all the sounds from the sounds folder on the free game version. (All the sounds in the BMW folder and the base sounds folder).

OK, got it. Looks quite nice...

Shame that to get a good conversion you need this other mod though. Surely it's just as easy to make it standalone ala C6 Vette?

Hope someone makes a decent mod from it, with more accurate tyre models, suspension, options etc, it's a lovely 'free' model from BMW in essence biggrin

Lets hope they do the same in future biggrin

Ahhhh, more tyre models, the Pilot Sports (more OEM I guess than the BF Goodrich) make it drive alot nicer biggrin

Just need softer suspension, I think I'll do that in the old Carfactory then, using ride rates around the E46 M3's...

Nice... had a race with the C6 Corvette's and it seemed pretty even.
